The one thing about modern digital technology that really leaves me speechless, is how "intelligent" it is.
Why, it is so intelligent, that it will ignore what YOU told it to do, and go ahead and do what IT wants to do.
I'll take that back...no, it doesn't really leave me speechless.
In fact, it imparts a rather large amount of speech.
But none of that speech is printable here...so I'll stick with "speechless."
Such is the dilemma of those of us of an age that we were out in the working world trying to survive from one day to the next, instead of being spoon-fed all the magic tricks in a classroom somewhere.
One of the things that really leaves me "speechless"...is the inability of this miracle of modern technology to get a picture posted to a Profile page right-side-up.
In the beginning, when I could not get a picture to go on there right-side-up, I just assumed that the computer knew better than I did being that it is so much more intelligent than I am.
Which causes me to become even MORE "speechless".
But, I am just one of those belligerent dinosaurs from another century who obstinately insists that a picture is best viewed right-side-up.
Which means that I am arguing with the computer.
And in this day-and-age of technological miracles, that is something that is not to be tolerated.
Because the computer is never wrong...and I just don't "get it"
How can a computer ever be wrong? Look at how failsafe GPS's are!
Sometimes, a computer needs to be adjusted...somebody said that the best tool to adjust a computer with, is an 8-pound sledgehammer.
Somebody else said a 9mm semi-automatic pistol works just as well.
I don't know who said those things.
And if I did, I wouldn't admit to it.
But instead, I knew that I had to go to someone with the specialized knowhow and technical expertise to find a really effective remedy.
Anybody under the age of 13.
So any of us who has grandkids should be well-covered in that situation.
And here is what they said we need to do to get the picture right-side-up;
BEFORE syncing the picture to your Profile page, go to the place where the picture is stored in the computer...it could be any number of places...but wherever it is should have an "edit" function available.
Bring up the picture you want to load, activate the "edit" function...if the picture is sideways on your computer, the edit function should allow you to rotate the picture so it is right-side-up.
You are doing this on the program where your picture is stored ON YOUR COMPUTER...the "edit" function on DS does NOT allow you to rotate pictures.
Once the picture is right-side-up ON YOUR COMPUTER, press the "SAVE" button...it has to be SAVED right-side-up on your computer.
Then, when you are on the "upload photo" window on your Profile page, browse to find the picture you want...when you upload the picture, it should load to your Profile page right-side-up.
My 9-year-old granddaughter showed me how to do this, and so far so good.
If it does not work for you...
1). You will be as "speechless" as I was;
2). Hide all sledgehammers and semi-automatic pistols; and
3). Find a younger grandchild to overrule the first grandchild.

As a general rule, never, ever, rely on any website to do any graphics adjustment (rotate, sizing, etc) for you. That includes anything social media. They will end in "speechless" moments 99% of the time.
I was having trouble with my computer. So I called Richard, the 11-year-old next door whose bedroom looks like Mission Control, and asked him to come over.
Richard clicked a couple of buttons and solved the problem.
As he was walking away, I called after him, So, what was wrong?
He replied, It was an ID ten T error.
I didnt want to appear stupid, but nonetheless inquired, An, ID ten T error? Whats that? In case I need to fix it again.
Richard grinned. Havent you ever heard of an ID ten T error before?
No, I replied.
Write it down, he said, and I think youll figure it out.
So I wrote it down: I D 1 0 T
I used to like the little bugger.
So brilliant, that kid would be my full-time computer go-to-guy on permanent retainer.
The check, of course, is in the mail.
I would have died of embarrassment!!!!!!
