This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
We have 9 or 10 who are interested in a get-together in Chicago. Im posting this again to see if anyone else is interested before we begin making plans. Were going to plan something for the summer that will be (hopefully) good for everyone. If youre thinking you may want to attend but youre not sure because..
1. You dont want to drive too far or you dont like driving with lots of traffic or you just dont want to drive period there are people who have responded from Ohio, Missouri and Indiana and several have said they will gladly pick someone up to come with them.
2. Youd like to come but arent able to spend the money It wasnt long ago I felt like I didnt have a dime to my name and I would hate for anyone to miss out because of money. Already some have said they will chip in a little extra for anyone else and dont worry about anyone else knowing.
3. You dont live close and dont know where to say there are several of us from the Chicago area. We can find a nice and inexpensive place for everyone and sharing a room will keep the cost down even more.
4. You have children Chicago has lots of free stuff like beaches and the Lincoln Park Zoo. Also, I have a 16 yr old daughter who loves kids, is very responsible, dreams of being a pediatric nurse and, after I twist her arm, would love to babysit for anyone for free if you want that or just bring them.
So, let me know if you are interested or if youre not sure we can just keep you updated on our plans and you can decide at a later date. If youre considering this and feel you have some obstacle like a ride, money, etc. let me know. I, for one, would like something to look forward to.

I am definitely interested and would love to meet you all; but due to other out-of-state plans and family reunions, the date would be the deciding factor for me.
When you decide on a date that is convenient for you all and post it, I will be able to say whether it's doable. TJ
