Mine was a chef....ill for many years but he loved his food and going out to dine. So many things revolve around food that for the first three months, I lost my appetite to eat anything as he always made me dishes and then would sit there to see if I liked it. :(
I hope you find that the black hole left is soon filled with the hopes of a new star xxx
I'd advise you to make friends across this DS world of communities. After all, grief or the process of grieving involves anxiety, depression, PTSD, loneliness, and much more of the script for needing emotional support. This is a wonderful support site (been here for years!)
Just simply take your time and explore this site, WildRose. I imagine you will find useful help from all types of backgrounds. People here are often kind and considerate. There are also private community groups managed by members of this site, and you may build your own personal support community right here at DS.
I am so sorry that you are having sleepless or restless nights (been there too!).
Always the best to you. God be with you.
Being here and reading others and their pain or advice brings me solace. I feel like I am reading similar souls. Other times I read and think how lucky I am and that I should be grateful when I read people who lost their loves and only had a short time or are left with no kids. There are times I read and think oh wow, wish I had 40+ years with mine or I wish I was where they are now...not in so much pain. I also have gauged that I am actually further down then where I thought I was when reading those who just recently lost. While it has only been 97 days...It still feels like yesterday when I was in his arms.....
Believe me, you are very welcome to anything I write that helps you feel lifted in spirit. I, too, am not interested in dating nor will I ever marry again. And, as with you, I'm not so hard on those who remarry or date after burying a spouse or life partner. I've had so many men, young and old, to come on to me. I'm nice to them and I enjoy the moment of attention, yet my husband's spirit is so close and I actually know that he wants me to wait for him.
In the beginning, I was painfully aware that he was around me, and to mention it, he told me days before he passed that he was not going anywhere. Strange thing is that I still feel married to him...just in a different way. And I could tell you so many experiences I've had with him. I rejoice in the moments we have a "soulful" relationship and these are complete magical moments and frequently are times when we share oneness totally beyond what we shared in life on earth. There is one such story of which I've not publicly shared, only my adult sons are aware of it, and this one is so, so, sacred. It was a miracle no doubt too.
I will warn you this: be very careful with who you share your heart with. Widows are often foolish women. I will leave you with a quote from one of my favorite movies, and this is one with the theme of a lady mourning the passing of her husband and following a sense of the loss of love with a man she knew nothing of before falling in love again. The man speaking to her is the wise one:
"I thought you were one woman with sense...but you're like all the rest of them.
Fall for any man
who'll promise you the moon
and end by taking everything
you have to give.
Oh, don't trouble yourself, my dear.
It's not your fault."
I'm here a couple of days a week. Let me know if I can support and help you in any way. Stay focused and in the moment. There are many hills and valleys along the way, yet you still have a connection with a power greater than ourselves, God, and as you have faith in Him your spiritual life with your husband gets better and better. I know this is true.
Sleep peacefully tonight. You have so many here to travel this journey with you. And you are never alone.
Love that you write about knowing your husband is near you. Like you, I have had some experiences where I know he is desperately trying to show me he is by my side. Makes me.think how can I do that if he is always with me? I will post about such an incident where I knew he was there.
Thank you my beautiful friend for your kind soul.
Grateful not to be alone in this pain x
I've learned to keep my thoughts focused. And my thought is very certain that my husband is still talking things through with me, and I can recall details and timelines in a new way than usual because of it. All now is almost as if I'm thinking as one with my husband, just the same or better than it was as when we were one in this life. Yes, it was quite weird at first. However, I understand more of what's going on each day. Give it time and you will too. Now is more for me and not less in any way. I'm so thankful too. I hope the same or similar experiences with you and your dear husband, WildRose.
Blessed hugs today!
