Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.

On Jan.30 this Year (2017), my dear sweet husband died after a botched hernia repair operation. He suffered through 5 terrible surgery procedures in 4 short weeks. He died in the hospital. The county Coroner immediately flagged the case as a wrongful death, so an autopsy was required, as well as a toxicology report needed. Not only did I lose my husband of 32 years, I also lost a great future with him. He was just 59 years old. Today is his birthday, when he would have had a great 60th birthday party. A malpractice suit is underway, so this new wufow status is one that I truly don't like. Too sudden, too dramatic, and too much to deal with in the upcoming months and years.
These past seven weeks of widowhood have been like a bad dream that keeps going on and on.
Thank goodness that I discovered this resource here! I am gaining some strength as I read the posts of others and the replies that offer encouragement and hope. I certainly need those two elements!
Did you know that there are about 250-thousand hernia repair surgeries per year? So why did we happen to get "that incompetent surgeon" who basically..... Oh, YES, I am angry!
Anyway --
I'll be okay in time. I sure would prefer an actual calendar date of when that will be! My daughter passed away 9 years ago (missing person case), and my mother passed away one year ago (old age illnesses). Now with my dear husband gone too, it is causing tremendous emotional episodes. I plan to attend a local support group to help me through the tines ahead; and I an also planning to be active here. As my user name is "Silent.House," you can get an idea of why things are so different now.
Thanks for reading. I'm a strong believer in the power of prayer; so if you could say one for me, I believe I will feel less angry a whole lot sooner.
