Hugs to you. I am not nearly as far as you are on this "journey", and my brain is scrambled, too. I was hoping that was something that would improve with time, but I guess not.

Yep it's brain fog. Can't get anything done cuz if I happen to have an ounce of energy I get started but never finish. Jump from one thing to the other. Go to the store, can't remember why I am there. (but still manage to spend money) and the list goes on. So many unfiished tasks. Oh well, tomorrow is another day I guess. Hugs to all, Michele

Gosh I thought it was just me! Can seem to concentrate on one thing very long and a tons of thought and ideas go through my head. It's so frustrating. I always want to be somewhere else wherever I am. So antsy...

Two years here for me and I still have widow's fog. Some days worse than others. They tease me at work if I started my cocktails early.

2 1/2 years. The fog has lifted. Gee, I miss it. So, who cares if I make a mistake? I am not in medical field, so no one will be harmed by it. If I don't want to do anything, go anywhere, its up to me. I don't stress myself out about it. If I get sick, I've taken care of myself all my life. So far, still here. I went clothes shopping today for a new style. I've worn the same style so long, they are back in style. So I will finish shopping in my own closet. ???? Get my sewing machine out, and make them smaller, as I have lost so much weight. Oh well, who cares anyway?

Some days the whole body seems to be in neutral. Even after 15months, it seems like I keep saying "What ever"

The things that you were interested in doesn't seem to matter.

Hi I'm 6.5 yrs out and still get days, of similar feelings and things just seem so much more difficult than they used to. It seems any new project I take on, i.e taking over parents finances with trust and powers of attorney in hand, moving, putting estate items on EBay for the first time at someone's suggestion, all take so much longer, have so many more ridiculous steps required, than I ever anticipated. I feel like I'm swimming up the mighty Colorado river and for every foot of progress, I fall back 10. Progress seems to take so much time. I still have to learn even more patients. I don't know if it's to do with grief, or quite frankly, if I'm just stupid sometimes. Mike used to handle all this crap with money and finances and bank accounts, and bills. I don't ever remember him getting so frustrated, or upset over it, unless I spent too much the month before! Lol. But I keep trying, stay the course, ask questions, and finally get things done I'm working on. I had to fight 6 months, re-submitting paperwork 4 times, and countless hours on the phone, to get reimbursed for a medically necessary prescription, that was prescribed in an emergency room at midnight with no option of "prior authorization of primary care physician". I would have given up had it not been $1400.00 ! I was amazed when I finally got the check from the insurance company. I had reached the point if my paperwork got "denied" again, I was giving up.

I had retired from the hospital before losing my husband and was working part time in a nursing home. I totally understand what you describe. The fact is at 18 months many of us were still second guessing each decision. Getting used to making decisions on our own is often scary when we are used to having someone to discuss them with. I found trying not to think too far ahead and take it one day at a time. Sharon

Yep me too!! I've heard it called brain fog, widow's fog, and just plain distracted. I too worry that I will mess up something big and have done some real messed up stuff- like leaving my purse in the refrigerator. I second guess everything and I am not as far in the grief journey but I don't think time makes much difference when you loose your love. Take care and be good to yourself

My brain got so foggy it made me more depressed. I stopped taking the antidepressant. Doing better now. But, YMMV.
