Annoying was that my husband also assumed how a scenario was going to play out before it happened. And he hated to lose at any game. Usuaolly always had to be right and most things were not his fault.
Loved the total package regardless.
I think this is a good thing to do. I have just passed the 4 month mark and I would love to share about the wonderful man who shared my life. He had a remarkable sense of humor. I smiled all the time when he was around. He loved to tell his youngest sisters lies. And he always got them. I would have to turn away and hide my chuckles because it would be some outlandish crap and they believed him. It was always so funny.
But he also was a real man that annoyed me. He had a picky streak when it came to food. I got so annoyed at some of his comments that I quit making some things for him. Now I wish I could go back and try harder to be a better baker and bake those things again.
As far a being sweet, I think my most blessed memories will always be two sets of blue hurricane lamps. The first ones he bought me many years ago for our new house and one got broken a few years ago. They were expensive for us at the time and meant alot. We looked and looked for a new set, but they are not popular now. Last Christmas, we found some. But we wanted a pair and they were not in stock. We order them and they never came in. Sometime this spring/summer, he mentioned the lamps to my son in law and daughter. We received the call that they were in while we were at his last MRI appt at Bethesda, MD in June and got the bad news that the cancer was rapidly growing back . I never called back. As things became even more grave, my son in law remembered the lamps but could not find out who had taken my husband to buy them. He never asked me because Dick said that the were a surprise for me that didn't come in for Christmas. Although Dick could not communicate well at all by this time and mixed up his words so bad, when they asked him where the lamps were he could tell them. They got the lamps and wrapped them up to surprise me. We opened one lamp the night before he died. We have pictures. He knew what was happening and was in on the surprise. I don't think I ever got to thank him. I didn't know the whole story until later. That night and the next day were really bad. I have yet to open the second one and put them up. That I will do for Christmas this year. Thanks for allowing me to share. Kathy
The sweetest thing was bringing me flowers every morning from the walk he went on. I always had fresh wildflowers from spring through fall on my kitchen table. Do I ever miss that.
He also predicted rain continuously or snow in the winter. I used to get annoyed. Anything we planned, he would say, "I think it's supposed to rain/snow." Eventually he would be right and so proud of himself. Didn't matter how many times the sun was out when he predicted it. He only gloated about being right. What a guy....God do I miss him. Sharon
mr. annoying came out when I cleaned and he would just lay back and watch t.v. i am the type of person that i need to see you working right along with me. Teamwork mentality. i would tell him to do his share. he would, but then i would just find that he would just dump the mess from one room to another. Jerk!! I always ended up cleaning the whole mess.
I will take Mr. Messy back now and allow every single fault. I just MISS him soooooo much. It has been over a year and I think I might need to wait another 10 to finally realize that he will never come back to me. : (

One of his annoying traits was that if I interrupted him he would take a breath and start all the way back to the beginning of his story. I thought it was a very rude thing to do and finally told him so. He was a wonderful person though and even with all of his warts I would take him back.
He treated everyone the same. It didn't matter if you owned the company or cleaned the toilets. Which leads me to the annoying part. David talked to everyone asking them all about themselves. Well some people would go on and on and David didn't know how to stop them which left me cooling my heels a lot.
David did so many sweet things for me. He used to pull up the covers and make sure I was all tucked in then give me a kiss and tell me he loved me before he left for work.
Even though he had to leave way earlier than I did in the morning he always cleaned the snow off my car and warmed it up for me in the mornings. Whenever I was sick he showed such concern and would bring home gingerale, all kinds and potions and a book for me to read. Whenever I was grumpy he would make me a tea and massage my shoulders and neck instead of getting mad back. And how he could make me laugh...I could go on and on...my husband was such a fine man.....
i guess i have to go negative too, so it would be ada's habit of correcting me over some insignificant detail right when i'm in the middle of a good story...it would ruin my "flow"...i wish i had a million more stories for ada to interrupt!
thanks for this,
joel g
What I admired the most, was he was the most patient and kindest person I have ever known. Really.... Even when he was sick, he was out doing things for people, like taking food. I just wish I could be like that... maybe when I grow up.
The annoying habit that he had was he was always so laid back and easy going that he was often late. He'd stand and talk and talk and talk and listen and listen and listen while I would pace because I didn't want to be late. We all joked that he would be late for his own funeral. He wasn't....he was too on time. I'd take late again any time any day.
Thank you for the reminders of such precious memories.

We moved just 4 weeks before he died, and he was so weak he was unable to help with any of the packing and downsizing that we needed to do. Everyday I would work till I would be exhausted(we downsized from 2300 sq.ft. to just over 900 sq. ft), getting rid of stuff. One night, Mark, yelled from other end of house for me...when I got to back of house he had lit couple large candles, had bath tub filled with warm bubble bath, and my large bath towel lying beside....he hated that he could not help me....so this little thing he did....even though so weak...will remain in my heart for ever. He told me,
"Ellen, you have worked enough today, take a break and relax."....he slowly made it back to his easy chair....even though he was weak, uncomfortable, he wanted to show me he wanted to help, but couldnt....I will always remember that moment...wasnt typical romantic,,,,but was so romantic in a special way.....thanks yall for sharing with me...hugggs ....Ellen
