Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
I also worry about this in regards to my mother. She is starting to reach her late 70's. With being in different country it makes it hard to be there for her, but I know I would be if ever she needs me to be.
My father also sit there with gang green in his foot, my sister in Michigan called him, then called me, I ran over there, had to have his leg removed, and move in with me. He never recovered.
I might live right in town, But people wouldn't help me either. So I have to be careful,
My thoughts are for you not to get over tired or do things that could cause you to get hurt. If it needs to be done have someone there with you if it could be dangerous.
This is not a fun time in our life, but as you know God is watching us, its our job to be careful.
Hugs,
JoAnn
We need to be very open to what our new truth is trying hard to teach us of survival after the passing of our precious life-mates. Over time we learn to 'Bloom where we are planted.' and begin to make life viable once again. I have not yet fully arrived at a viable life from crisis with health being so overwhelming to cope with alone but I have acceptance of this nightmare truth and the PTSD is severe enough to cause numbness allowing for my surviving during the very worst of times.
Gentle ((hugs)) shared.
Keep sharing support -- that has allowed for my survival and I'm sure the survival of so many of us here coping with the pain of such overwhelming loss along with all of the changes in our lives this has forced onto us.
I don't know what to suggest. When my mom was home alone my brother & I called to check morning and night. Sharon
That made me think hard, so I have arranged with a friend that she txt me everyday, just to see if I am OK. One of my daughters or the other also phones everyday. It reassures me and them. Before I leave the my house I go through my check list, keys, mobile, money. Keys, mobile, money.
Could you set up a txt arrangement with one of your friend, or your son so at least there would be a daily check? We have become more vulnerable and more fearful hence we have to have contingency plan in place.
Hugs to you. Take care of yourself.
I never really thought about if I fell or something. Yeah, that would be bad.
If a thought ever hits you................ like locking yourself out of the house or anything, pay attention to it. If your mind tells you not to do something don't do it.
I even had a dream one time where my steering wheel came off in my hands while drving. My husband checked it and it was loose!
Just pay attention and listen to your thoughts now that we are alone.
The mother lived alone so they got her one of those medic alert necklaces. The company called her each month to verify that it would work. But she always stood close to the receiver when she tested it. So the battery became weak after a while but still tested ok.
Of course when she fell and broke her hip she was not close to the receiver and the necklace did not alert anyone. My friend's sister just happened to check on their mon after she had laid there for six hours.
So if you get one of those alert gadgets make sure they work :)
Be honest with your family. Explain your concerns. I'm sure a text once a day would be something they would be happy to do.
