This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
Our BBQ is scheduled for Saturday, July 17th at Lori's house (lkmeb). We'll have - pulled pork, hot dogs, salads, baked beans, etc., etc., For those of us staying over night we are getting rooms at the Super 8 in Valparaiso on Howell Drive. It is close to Lori's house and about $75/night. Some are staying Friday and Saturday and others (me - at least) just Saturday.
On Sunday we plan to visit Indiana Dunes in the morning and bring breakfast/brunch with us. Looks right now like we have about 8 with some still unsure. We're hoping to have a lot of fun - so hoping anyone nearby will consider this - or even if your not nearby. If you need a ride - let us know - and we will see if we can work something out. Anyone thinking of spending the night - I'm still open to sharing a room - women only though.
One man coming - need more men!! This is only an hour or so from Chicago. I can give anyone from Chgo area a ride - but I'm staying over Saturday. If you can bring a dish to share - great!, if not - that's ok too. Would suggest you may want to bring what you want to drink! If you have any questions respond here or send me a message. We'll be sending directions - but not posting them online.
Even if you're 4-5 hours away - this can be a nice little weekend get-away to meet people you only know by code names.

My reservations are made, and my camera is charged up and ready for action. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone. These gatherings are a wonderful way to continue the healing process, feel normal, socialize with understanding people, encourage and be encouraged, you fill in the description that fits your situation. I'm about 5 hours away, but the drive will be a nice diversion to the weekly task of "mowing." My GPS and I are ready for the adventure to begin! TJ
