Hello everyone, I am writing this on the 7th month anniversary of Amy's death. We returned safe and sound from my 9 day motorcycle trip from Denver to San Diego albeit a little sore and tired. The trip was bitter sweet. We stopped at the Grand Canyon where I spread some of Amy's ashes at a beautiful spot called Navajo Point, she has a fantastic view. We then traveled through the brutal 120 degree Arizona desert to San Diego. San Diego was beautiful and we visited with friends and family with plenty of beach and pool time. I also spread some of her ashes in San Diego at a beautiful spot called Sunset Cliffs also peaceful and awesome. We then traveled back through the 115 degree Nevada desert after leaving a night in Las Vegas. A motorcycle trip like this gives you plenty of time for thought and reflection. The motorcycle I was riding comes equipped with a stereo so I could listen to music on my iPhone, needless to say there were many songs loaded that reminded me of Amy. There were many trigger points along the way and fortunately no one can hear me cry and scream in the middle of nowhere on a motorcycle. The waves of grief still hit often along the 2700 mile trip although somewhat purging and cathartic and at the same time very sad and lonely. I am glad I took the trip but am also so happy to be home with my dogs and cat. So back to my life such as it is. Love to all ~Pete

I love that Amy has such a beautiful view of the Grand Canyon!
I too,missed your posts.
You were brave to make that trip, knowing how you would be faced with so many triggers along the way. Good for you!
I know it's good to go but better to come back home!!
Hugs to you from Sandra
I also have just returned from a trip which visited the places which Barbara my beloved wife and I loved. I called this vacation, "Slaying The Dragons of Grief." I knew Barbara would want me to continue going to our favourite haunts. I have visited most of these places in the UK and am now on a journey to visit those in the foreign lands we loved. On Wednesday I returned from the Porto Pollensa on the Mediterranean island of Majorca where we used to have an apartment. I had some melancholy moments in Pollensa but I knew that Barbara was with me. The only real point of sorrow occurred when I sat outside the steak restaurant which is on the corner outside where we had our apartment. While waiting to be served I glanced up at the balcony where Barbara and I had stayed. I'm afraid that I filled up a little, as this was too much a memory for me and I had to get up and leave. We had often sat there in the evening watching people at the very place where I was sitting. Our (for I know she is still with me) next vacation is to spend December and January in Madeira, of which she was particularly fond. So keep "Slaying those Dragons", Pete, and I'm glad that you returned safe and sound, .
