I took a baby step (actually giant leap) Friday. Took my five year old grand daughter with me to spend the night and watch my two year old grand daugher cuz mommy had to work and daddy was out of town. It's a 90 mile drive and my sweet little grand daughter is always so good on a trip. I hate going east on the interstate since my husband and I had to make so many trips that way to hospitals. Much of the ride I had tears flowing and had I not had her with me, I easily could have turned back. But she was so eager to see her little cousin and so was I. The girls kept me busy and went to eat twice with them and my wonderful daughter in law. Arrived home last night about 9:30 exhausted, and emotional. Couldn't wait to get back to my cacoon. It was wonderful receiving all the hugs and kisses and listening to all the giggling. But kept thinking he SHOULD be here with me to enjoy this too. My little two year old told her daycare provider that when it thunders that means grandpa is up in heaven bowling. Couldn't hold the tears back. I miss him more each day!!

You did a very brave thing.....good for you. I would not have the courage to drive that far....give yourself a pat on the back.

I always find myself racing back to my home/safe haven too. My husband has been gone a little over 4 months and the pain is still so bad.

Yes the pain is still so bad, and had my kids not needed me I would have never made that trip. I am still going to the store in the middle of the night just so I don't have to take the chance of seeing someone I know. And there are less people there to deal wiith. My three kids are still all mourning I know. But losing my parents and my husbands parents was so hard. But losing him is multiplied by a million. I want to cloan myself so I can be there with him and here for the kids and grand kids.

With each step we gain strength to make the next. You're doing a good as you can and should be proud of your accomplishments. I understand the pain, but also the importance of pushing through which is what you are doing. Hugs, Sharon

Good for you, Loved. I'm right there with you, still finding myself most comfortable alone and at home. I'm taking a baby step too. I invited my sons and their families for a BBQ next Sunday. We're hanging in there together, my friend. Hug! Kathy

Being around my grandchildren is such a mixed blessing for me. I love their hugs and they are so darn cute to be around but being around them is bittersweet. It makes me miss their papa even more.

Last weekend one granddaughter made her First Communion and another was baptized the same day. That was so hard to do without Ed there.

I guess this will get easier with time, too?
