After a few minutes of panic I remembered we used to hang a spare key in a shed (for when neighbors took care of our place during vacations), so went to go get it.
That was an eye-opening moment - when I realized the new paradigms of living alone - but now it's a bit of a joke:-)
I knew better than to suggest a trap, he was such a gentle man. He would take spiders outside, would never kill one.
About three weeks after he died I did see the mouse. The mouse poked his head out from under the stove. So did my cat that she just sat there and looked at it.
I told the mouse, yes I talked to the mouse, that I was not husband. I explained that I already had and breathing problem and could not afford to get Hanna Virus. I would get a trap. I really did not want to do this but I would have to. So I suggest he leave.
Ok knowing you all think I am nuts I will keep going.
Believe it or not the mouse did leave. I found the hole where he came in and closed it up. In fact I tore the house up looking for holes only found one.
