This is similar to the other post but figured I'd ask my question as well. Our first anniversary will be on Sept 17th. (We got married on Yom Kippur - not a great idea because 50% of the people invited were Jewish. Didn't even know what it was till after I set the date.) oh well
Anyway I got an email from a friend I used to work with 3 years ago. She told me they are having a "reunion" of people who worked at that school - planning a night out to dinner. I haven't seen any of them for 3 years - some I actually don't even know. So - you guessed it - the date of this reunion is Sept 17th.
I was thinking of not going - but I know my kids will not do anything and won't even remember - and haven't decided if I want to be alone or what. I don't know how I'm going to feel but know I can't go without saying something to everyone - but then they may not want to hear that either. I don't want to put a damper on their "party". This will be at least 30 min from my home and once I get there I think I'll feel stuck. I haven't decided yet - for those of you who have passed the 1st wedding anniversary - how do you think I'll feel?

I know for me, I wouldn't have been able to attend something like that at the one year mark. I was much too emotional, but you know how you feel. If you feel strong enough and want adult companionship, by all means go! If anyone asks about your situation, you can mention it's your anniversary, but I don't think I'd mention it otherwise.
