Our favorite thing when Ed and I stayed overnight was all the kids jumped into bed with us in the morning. Sometimes they would get so excited that would come in the middle of the night! Kind of like Christmas Eve and waiting for Santa.
Ed and I just loved to have them cuddle with us and we would tell them stories and listen to their little hearts tell us all the wonderful things that grandkids do tell.
Anyway, last Saturday morning, right around 6 AM the youngest came tip toeing into my room. Then two more and finally the sleepyhead joined us around 7. The oldest said to me, "Grandma, Pappaw was the silly one. Can you be silly now that he is gone?" I melted.
Yes, it is different but it can still be wonderful. I started to imitate his voice and tell some silly stories about him and before you knew it, we were all giggling and then they started telling some stories in his big deep voice. Precious.
I had my moments of missing him so much it hurt but I had more moments of loving those grands with a fierceness that keeps him close to me. Especially since they are not my "blood" grandchildren, it is more important than ever because they are such a connection to him.
I pray you will find peace and enjoyment in those special moments with your grands again. It is definitely hard but I wouldn't miss it for the world.
In my heart I know that Ed is watching down on us just smiling over our love for each other.
With you in spirit. Liz
The five elder ones, all have vivid memories of their "Sabby" they adored him so much. He has forever imprinted them , with his wonderful, fun, joyous attitude to life.
Without family, life is empty. It's so easy to fall into despondency, then, I realize I have to keep going for Ben and our family.
Hug to all the grand parents.......Sandra
