Hi Rick, I’ve been on this board for over 2 1/2 years and was only unfriended once and that was very recently. They friended me one day and then unfriended me the next day. In between I think my views of “living in sin (da da dummm) or mediums” or whatever must have offended them. Not sure, but that’s my hunch. I wasn’t going to put too much thought into it because truly it wasn’t worth it. It still stings though when people do that but whatever, I can be a very good friend so it’s their loss, LOL!
I think it’s very nice that you are friending people who share this loss with us... it’s a lonely road and it feels good to have other people who share it even though it’s from great loss....so please, friend away!!!
Cyberspace can also lead to lasting friendships too! Last year several of us from this site got together for a week at the beach and met for the first time and had a wonderful vacation! It was fun to put a name with the face and get to know everyone so much better. Of course there was a lot of communication other than this forum before that all happened but I know that we all had a great time! Plus one of those people who I’ve known much longer is someone that I plan to spend the rest my life with that I have met on this very board so there you go!!! Never saw it coming... never expected it or looked for it but am so thankful that it happen!!!
I know you are not looking for that type of friendship but the fact that you are reaching out to people is very kind...and progression!

I unfriended one person since I joined, he was saying he was a widow, and in fact he was not and he took me for money. It is in my writings on this website. He prayed on the venerable and I took his bait.

Thanks Darcie. Sorry to hear that myhusband, The world is full of predators, but hopefully decent people still carry the majority.

It’s always wise before you friend someone to go to their profile and check them out. Some may claim to be widowed and aren’t. It’s wise to look at their comments or other groups that they have joined. If there is a multitude of them that have nothing to do with us that’s a red flag. You can never be too cautious.
I remember that incident Dianna and my heart goes out to you still…

Hi Darcie, yes it is hard to predict that this person was not a widow, and when they say they lost a spouse you can’t say they didn’t. I thank you and everyone that was on my side at that difficult time. I have learned and I take everything with a grain of salt, and I am more cautious now. Dianna

Thank you Darcie, your a wonderful friend and it was a very trying time in my life when this happened, and I am stronger now and you can only try and help out others and try to be there friend. I now look to see how many groups they have, it was to bad I didn’t know this at the beginning but hey you learn from you mistakes and become stronger. You and all my friends that were there for me then I really appreciated it so much. Nice to have good friends that we can talk to in our time of need. We all need to be there for one another. I have not been on this site a lot and did not even know I could add friends. Friday will be week 12 without my Jennifer:-(. . I just had an experience of intense crying when I packed Jennifer's phone and sent it back to Verizon. Of course, I backed up all of the information that was on it 2 different types of media to be sure I did not lose any photos or messages. I attend individual counseling and I was fortunate to find a loss of spouse / partner specific group in my town which I have attended twice and is very helpful to actually hear other stories and be in an accepting environment to just let it all out we are all going through feelings that I never imagined possible.....
