I am no car expert, but it sounds like the problems with the passenger seat have to do with the weight sensor system Nissan installed to control whether or not the airbags deploy. Something called the "Occupant Classification System" that was meant to be a safety feature so that the airbags would not deploy if a child was in the passenger seat. The National Highway Traffic Safety Agency is investigating Nissan's failures at recalling and repairing the problem. That seems to be the gist of the government's reason for investigating this.
There are investigations, recalls, and complaints ongoing for the make and model you have which can be found using the search function on the NHTSA's website.
Here is the information to contact the State Attorney General's Office where you are to get help and advice:
"The Attorney General provides a Senior Citizens Consumer Fraud Hotline. To contact the hotline please call 1-800-243-5377 or 1-800-964-3013 (TTY). "
Here is a link to the State AG Office page:

Give them a call. Between the Federal investigations and assistance from the State AG's Office, you should be able to put the fear of God into that crooked car dealership and get your money back. If that doesn't work, you may need a Lemon Law attorney, but try the hotline number first.
And if you feel you are getting nowhere, there is always the press. The local news reporters love this kind of story and would be all over these guys like flies on a jam pot I would think.
I am sorry it has happened to you. It's not right, it's not fair, and it is illegal. Don't stand for it!
Hope this helps....
Love and Hugs,
Martha
Here is the State Bar Association's info for how to get a lawyer. You can get a 30-minute consultation for only $25, which is pretty good:

You can call them and give request someone who has Lemon Law knowledge. You can at least find out what your options are. I think it would be worth it myself.

Praised, I can't add anything more beyond what Martha has posted. It's simply a shame that you were taken advantage of. No wonder car salesmen get such bad reps! Hang in there and hold your ground sister.
Hugs, Dayna
One other point is that usually they get to try to fix it 4 times. That has already happened. Make sure you tell the lawyer you speak to that it has already been in for repair 4 times.
If the car is less than 18 months old, it may still fall under the warranty provisions for a new car, too.
If you send anything in the mail on your own, make sure you send it by Certified Mail- Return Receipt Requested, and request date and name of person signing for it. Will cost a couple extra bucks, but then you have proof that you tried to contact them and when they received notification. That little bit of documentation will help later. Put a "cc" on the letter copying it to the dealer's general manager.
The devil is always in the details. You shouldn't have to deal with this at all, but these are a couple of tips which I hope will help you fight back. Let us know what you find out.

Martha
My son answered "no" to both questions and the judge immediately dismissed the case against dealership and left my son with these words......."buyer beware and be knowledgeable!"
I hope you get a better and more satisfactorily resolution.

You would be amazed how keeping those bits of info scares the heck out of people. They know you are serious, and then they get serious about dealing with it.
Keep us posted, and I hope your knee is better today.
Love and Hugs,
Martha
