Yes, becasue of sin there is death. If there had been no sin our world would have been perfect.

I believe that original sin causes our loved ones to die. God does not take them on an individual basis. He does not pick and chose who is to die. We are frail, like a grain of sand or a blade of grass in the world. Therefore I can never blame God for taking my husband. I blame death for taking him.

I believe in a loving God. I just can't wrap my mind around a God who would just take people to punish others. There are Tsunami's hurricanes, tornadoes, and all kinds of natural disasters. I just can't belive that every person taken 'had it coming" or was for some balancing table of weights.

I can't believe that God punishes us by taking our loved ones as much as I DID in the beginning. Thing is none of us will really KNOW until it is our time to get 'on the bus".

I DO believe hat love is much more powerful than anything else inside of us. If this was all due to ONE apple eaten?!?!? Man I'd be PO'd!!!!!!! :-)

Whew! We'd have one helluva over-population problem right about now! No, I think original sin has to do with the death of the spirit and not the body. After all, they "ate the apple", but their lives here on earth continued for some time.

Yes. It goes back to Adam and Eve. We still have our chance at paradise. My husband and I used to talk a lot about the rapture and the 1000 years here on earth. We talked about it like planning a holiday or vacation.

Just a few minor inconsistencies. It wasn't an apple, we do not know what it was, and it wasn't the tree of life it was the tree of knowledge of good and evil. And i think if Adam and Eve didn't do the wrong thing some other moron would have, it's just human nature to disobey, so we would be exactly where we are now anyway.

I am with Diane on this one. I would hope a loving God would not still be holding a grudge. What about "forgive those that traspased against you"? I am not being sarcastic here, just having trouble with all the mixed messages. God loves us, He is always with us, He protects us. I really think He does not give us that much thought. Could you kill a person you loved just to punish the person they loved? Ok everyone let me have it!!! I know my views are not in the majority.

I think it's a good thing that we as humans are not as intelligent and omnipotent as our God. Every single thing in this life happens for a reason--He doesn't cause every single thing to happen but he does allow things to happen--because, unlike us, he can see the whole picture. Scripture teaches us that for those who love Him, ALL THINGS work together for good. I don't think we are being punished, the cycle of life is as it was created to be, things happen, people are born and people die, situations change, LIFE happens. Our job is to trust Him and allow him to slowly bring about what was intended from the beginning. It's so easy to become cynical and jaded when we go through the kind of thing we have all been through, that's human nature, because we don't understand why and we want answers. I don't think we are meant to understand it all--we simply are not capable of understanding everything in the way He does. I honestly believe that even if we had the answers right now we would not be able to comprehend them. I know eventually I will understand why things happened the way they did--I hope it's in this life, but if not, then I look forward to understanding it all when I see Him face to face.

I believe the important thing to remember about all sin, is our God is a loving God who never leaves us if we chose to make Him our Lord. Sharon
