Hello Friends, I have not posted in awhile although I come here often and read the heartbreaking and sometimes hopeful stories of all of you on this awful journey.
It has been 15 months since my Amy died but I still find myself moving forward and am still hopeful for the future. I am at a better place since the early days and months since she passed but still the pain and sadness is always just under the surface.
It breaks my heart to see new members pouring in and telling their stories of the hurt that is so familiar to all of us. I know it is hard to fathom but things will get better.
I ran across a beautiful story I'd like to share written by a man named Mark Myers on a site in the Huffington Post called "Common Grief" for a friend who had lost his son. I think it applies to all the grieving. It's called "A Taxi to There".

We all come from a place where two souls are joined as one
...when one soul makes the journey to the Spirit Realm, that oneness is temporarly separated, and the one left behind has become half of themselves...for the remainder of their time on earth, they have become someone they have never met...and they have to start from scratch to get to know their new self.
Mark Myers knows that journey well...my compliments on his profound expression.

That is the best explanation I've heard or perhaps it's just sunk in for the first time? Duh moment.
I get it now. I have to get to know this New me that I am inhabiting. All over again. Coz let's face it, the old reality ain't ever coming back.

Like you, I haven't posted in a while but I do come on and read the new posts and I pray for all who have had the need to come here. This group is a God send. That was an awesome story. It really hits the nail on the head. I hope everyone will read it as I believe it will be of help.
