Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.

Well the one year anniversary was today. It was another lifetime ago. Last year we were just trying to make her comfortable while her body gave out.
I had been reduced to only working half days for six months, and zero days for that last month. I was her primary caregiver, she depended on me for everything.
Now I have been back to working full days for this whole year and I have navigated thru this grieving process and realized that I am the same guy that I was, only with a different focus now.
Life Is a gift. I believe that the grieving process helps us to adapt to our changed life circumstance to allow us to life as fully as we can.

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my post.
As always, your uplifting message is full of grace and dignity. I hope that when I reach the one year mark, I will be able to show that same grace and dignity to others.
Thanks again for being so very kind.
It was a reminder that we are stronger than we think we are, and a reminder for me of how far I have come and how much I can actually do. I needed the reminder this week - it has been an emotionally tough time - but knowing I survived it all back then helps me remember I CAN get through my current crisis.
It won't seem like you can make, but you can. Never give up. If I could, I think just anybody could. Have confidence in yourself, and remember you were loved and admired for a reason - those reasons are still within you.
Love and Hugs,
Martha
