I'd like to thank the people in this group; your words have helped me more than you can ever know. Six weeks ago, my world turned upside down when an accidental drowning took the life of the man I had hoped to marry. Although we lived far apart, we were working toward the day when we would live together. I had retired from my job, and I was slowly emptying my house. He moved from his rental and bought a great house for us. The night before the accident, I had booked a flight to spend two weeks with him. Who would have thought that before that visit could take place, I'd be there for his funeral and back here in my house again? I am so totally shattered; to have found my joy so late in life only to lose it has been devastating. I am identifying with so many of the messages posted in this group. Thank you again for being here.

Thank you for your compliment and you are certainly welcome. I understand because I have felt the same about the people here for many years now. My husband died from cancer in 2007 and they gave of themselves even in their own pain. I hope we get to know you better and know you will be encouraged by sharing with us. Sharon

This site has been a blessing for me as well. I lost my wife suddenly 7 months ago and while Im doing better I still struggle everyday and miss her so much. No one really wants to hear me talk about it anymore but the people here understand so I still come here daily.

Fourteen weeks ago, I found my husband in our pool, after he fell, struck his head on the side of the pool, and drowned. It is not a common way to lose a loved one. but it is terribly shocking. My heart goes out to you....

There are no words that take away the pain, and no one can walk the journey of grief for you....but we can walk next to you.

I am so sorry - talk about shattered dreams! I, too, found my genuine love later in life. I was 40, he had recently filed for divorce as his wife was having an affair. So he moved back to his hometown where I happened to be living. I quit my job and devoted full-time to him ever after. Now, I am at a loss and don't know 'what' to do.

We are never alone, as someone else is walking a similar path. You never know what you might read that may resonate with you, or something you write here may resonate and help someone else. God bless.
