This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
We had a lovely send-off for my artistic, sensitive, creative husband Andrzej. I brought all of his paintings I could find (around 100) many of our old friends, my family, his art market friends, fellow musicians and newer friends from the AWC (an expat group of English-speaking women in Seville) and from my more recent co-workers.
The Irish wake style gathering was just the sort of thing I know he would have loved. And I think he will also love being scattered on his favorite hill in his hometown when the bluebells are in bloom in the spring.
A couple of beautiful eulogies were read, and I also recited 'Funeral Blues' by W.H. Auden, a poem we both loved.
I am very grateful for the great turn out, for the chance to focus on the positive memories. I think it has helped make me feel a little bit less sad, and more optimistic for the future.

What a lovely way to memorize your precious husband......I am thankful, you will keep those memories in your heart forever....

I am so very sorry to hear of the passing of your husband. I was not at all familiar with W. H. Auden's "Funeral Blues" so I looked it up. I encourage others to do so as well. Its verses are so meaningful; I hope you don't mind if I reprint one of them here.
