This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
It has been right at ten months now. I still struggle with all you wrote.
I wasn't there when Linda passed into eternity. I don't believe she woke up to know what was going on. I thought she was asleep when I found her.
But I do carry a large guilt sack on my back for it.
But He is there, it is there and they are there waiting for us all when our race is over. What keeps me going is knowing once we get there. nothing like this will ever happen again for eternity.
Take care.
Peace, Tim
Trust God, it'll happen!
I lost my beautiful wife almost a year ago to cancer. I understand some of your pain of loss, grief and mourning. I haven't moved many of my wife's possessions either. I did make somewhat of a shrine to her with many of her cherished items. I haven't touched her clothes and left many items in place. It's all part of the process. Most people are very ignorant to widows and widowers and comments be very cruel. Just remember that grief is process and not an event. Go at your own pace in your mourning. It's your Grieving not anyone else's.
As much as I have struggled with God over the past year I do believe in God and heaven and look forward to the day when I can join my wife again.
God Bless
We were married for 50 years on my birthday. (September). He was kind of a skeptic about the afterlife. So we worked out a code I said if you go first I want not just red roses, but yellow too on my birthday/anniversary and it has to come from one of our daughters maybe in a dream they could tell me they had. I woke up that morning of my birthday/Ann. and laying there said this is your chance to prove to me there is an afterlife. That afternoon I was in my front yard fixing a sprinkler head I had mutilated with my riding lawn mower.
My daughter pulled up and you guessed it she got with a dozen each of red and yellow roses. She said she was in Costco and was getting ready to leave when she saw the roses and said I should get those for Mom. The kicker is she said she had red and white in the basket and was leaving for the check out, when for some reason she turned around and saw the yellow roses and just went back and got those instead of the white. Needless to say we both had a good cry.
Sorry Joe didn't mean to be so long winded but I think it helps to share when we have signs. I and my daughters and now granddaughter just four days ago. I'll share that another time.
Your Girl was fortunate to have had you also in her life..
I never thought I would get to a place where I could make peace with losing Dennis, but for some reason lately I have. I know he isn't suffering and is at peace and wouldn't want me to go on grieving for ever. I will always miss him but I know someday I'll Transition as we all will and I'll see him again.
Take care of yourself Joe. Happy Trails and Hugs....Gail
