I struggle with this every day also. My wife was the same for me, she was my life here on earth. I have to believe there is a reason she went and I was left behind. I just haven't found it yet. The one thing I do know is that I am grateful for all the folks here including you who have gone thru this and can actually understand what we are going thru. Maybe that's it. Maybe we need to reach out further to those who are struggling and help them during the remainder of our time. I have to hold onto that my wife Lyn would want me to keep moving forward until my race is ran and it's time to go home. Either way this is still the hardest thing I have ever done. I believe you have a purpose that will be revealed to you when it's time. I have to believe that for all of us. Take care of yourself you never know what's around the corner.
Peace, Tim
God wrote the script...I think it is not for us to understand.
I know, at least to some extent, how you feel. This is how I keep going- and it has worked for me so far.... I am a really terrible predictor of the future. I have had some tough times that I really never imagined I would make it through. I have wanted to give up on life more than once before. Granted, losing Bernie has been by far the toughest of all. But each and every time that I thought hope was lost for me... I forced myself to keep going through the motions. And somehow, each time, things would get a better slowly and eventually I would find myself in a better place.
I remember those times now when I don't want to get out of bed. One day at a time, I talk myself into getting out of bed. Until the day is done, I don't know if it is going to offer me some relief. Today was the three month anniversary of Bernie's death. I thought it was going to be horrid- but in all actuality, it wasn't any worse than yesterday and was a ton better than Saturday when I had a little mini breakdown and declared war with about half my family.
Maybe part of grief recovery is learning that I am not a good predictor of the future. When I look at the future with my grief glasses on- all I see are endless days like last Saturday. But, I hope that I'm wrong. Maybe we should give the future a chance to prove us wrong.
Peace Be with You Joe. I wish for you to find some relief from your pain and I will take that wish with me to prayer tonight.
42 years with my husband. and don't believe I will ever get over losing him.
