Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.

As time progressed, I became aware of how much I could do if I pushed out those boundaries. I ended up embracing my grandfather's philosophy of dancing on the edge of the volcano. Basically, even though I am now far more aware of the fragility of our lives, I have chosen to try to enjoy my life for as long as I have it. I still have horrible days, but now more often than not, I have good days.
Most importantly, I have really come to like the person I have become and appreciate who she is. Not perfect, but strong, and more of a risk taker than I ever thought I was capable of.
One morning I realized that no one will ever love me unconditionally again the way my husband did. My parents had that love, but they are also gone. It is an empty feeling when you lose your best friend.
I am so happy for those of you who have found strength in trying new things and venturing past what we all thought were our comfortable boundaries.
How long does it take?

Everybody's journey is different. I like that you're out there making the best of things.
You give me hope.
Trici
The "land" that Trici speaks of may not exist for some and maybe too overwhelmingly real for others. It sure made me smile.
Thanks Trici for my laugh for the day!
Kym, I'm not even close to feeling that adventurous right now. Sometimes just making it to the market is a true adventure for me!!!! A full shelf of toilet paper makes me happy!!! Keep up the high spirits and the great attitude!
