Unlike those of you living further east, we in the West have had a very dry winter and very little snow. This past week or so, we have had constant fog which is not pleasant by itself but we have also had no snow to make it look a little better. I woke this morning to a couple of inches of snow on the ground and it lifted my spirits, hoping for enough snow to make everything pretty again!
I am proud of myself because yesterday I worked hard in the morning to move my wood that I burn in the house from a temporary tent-type shed that had blown down into my new woodshed that my brother and I had built. The weather forecast had called for this snow and I knew it would not be fun if all of my wood was covered in snow so I got enough moved yesterday to last for a few weeks. This involved splitting much of the wood into smaller pieces as well as moving it, so I was tired last night! Who, knows, I may even learn to split wood decently in my old age! Right now I make a lot of kindling since my accuracy is NOT good.

I'm proud of you ! We find we can do things even if we previously thought we couldn't or didn't want to. I'm happy today cuz I managed to clean my kitchen and I may even do more housework. We have to take our pats on the back where ever we can get 'em :)

Pat on the back for both of you. Everywhere I clean, I look around and there's more cleaning to do. Seems like a never ending battle for me. Spring, hurry!!!!!

Snow-we in Wisconsin always have snow. This year it comes with bitter cold temperatures. I can't wait for Spring!!!!

My fellow Wisconsinite said it well before me. The polar vortex has been less than welcome in Packerland. I do agree with you about the fresh snow brightening the day. I run, unless it drops lower than -5. Some of the most thrilling runs I've had, have been in the cold, running (carefully) on a fresh dusting of snow.

I live in Indiana. You can have our snow. I am so sick of it. I cant wait for spring. However I want to say that I admire your ability to split wood. Seems like everything that was my husbands job is too much for me. I am trying hard to be self sufficient but it is difficult and slow. I wish things would come easily to me but they don't. sigh.

onebrokenheart, thanks for the encouragement but believe me my wood-splitting is better as entertainment for others than keeping them warm! I am blessed because my husband and I did many things together so I watched and learned a few things as he did them. A couple of months after he died, I had to replace the element in my water heater, something I hadn't even SEEN done for over ten years! But, I did it and it seems to be working fine!

I'm very proud for everyone who thought you couldn't and you did it! I have found myself that the more I think about doing I feel bad so I just do it. I don't plan I just go with it.. I was a planner but life also changed that for me. I feel proud of myself for any accomplishment-big or small.

The weather report for tomorrow is 6-10 inches of more snow. I have come to the conclusion that we are being tested, especially those of us who are grieving and snowed in. I live alone, so I have a lot of time to think. I am trying to keep busy in the house. Hopefully we will be able to enjoy outdoors again.
