Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
I am so sorry to hear of your loss, you are not alone, you have come to the right place. I lost my wife, 11 months ago unexpectedly, and understand what you are going through.
This is a long and painful journey we have been forced on, and you will find that there will be ups and downs through out it. We are all here to listen, and offer support when you need it.
This group was the best thing I could have done for myself, after loosing my wife, so many questions, so much anger, hurt, frustration and yes so many tears.
What you are going through right now is completely normal, just know that you are not alone, we are all here with you.
You will make it through this, you are still in shock and disbelief at this point and that is alright, if you need us we are here.
LaShawn was hardly given a chance to live a life with you. I'm so sorry. It makes absolutely no sense.
Your journey of grief will be filled with ups and downs and all arounds. Each day will be different, some days easier than others. Don't be hard on yourself and give yourself time to feel every feeling and shed every tear.
Please know that we are all here for each other and know exactly what you're feeling.
Warmly,
Roz
I am so sorry for you loss. DS is a wonderful place to be that will listen, comfort and help anytime you need it. I lost my husband suddenly and unexpectedly so I know how you feel. The loss is compounded by paperwork, loose ends, unknowns, tremendous loneliness and an uncertain future. Come here often and lean on the people around you. Most of all you are allowed to feel any way you want for as long as you want and don't try to hold it in or let others tell you how or when you should feel. Every ones journey while somewhat similar is very different. Listen to yourself and take care. Prayers and thoughts coming your way
I am so sorry that you are going through this. but, nevertheless, am glad that you did find us. because only those of us who are experiencing the same disoriented emotions can really be a comfort to each other. one of the hardest things is feeling isolated BY how we feel, even while people are trying to 'be there' for us.
At least here, others do share the same painful distresses which you feel.
It is ok to say anything here. that is the best part, for me.
You are still in very early SHOCK of sudden unexpected loss.
My husband passed in bed with me, also with no warning at all. his sounds awoke me. I am also dealing with shock.
(your situation differs from mine, in that we had 41 years together)
However, the only day which the funeral home had available for our private family viewing/goodbyes, was our anniversary. That added to shock and my sense of surreal confusion. "How can this be happening?"
My heart breaks for you, losing her on your first Anniversary.
4 months now since my husband passed, and shock is still with me.
It descends unexpectedly, with 'simple' realities of his death. Sometimes I shut down, unable to function because I don't want to run screaming from the room.
Maybe shock protects us in some way. (for me) pain is harder than the fog of shock. but it is all hard.
Try to stay in one day at a time. or one hour, or even 15 minutes if needed- when you feel overwhelmed.
Be kind to yourself.
I am so sorry, for you tragic loss.
I am glad you are here for support and encouragement. You are in. Good place....take care of yourself. Take one step at a time. We are here, if you need to vent,
Hug....Sandra
All of us whose who has joined DS, wish we had the answers for you, but those answers are elusive. One can never prepare for the time that our loved one leaves us. I for one was always afraid to think much less talk about death before I lost Larry, but looking back I wish I had. There will be a lot of what if's, but it takes time & your emotions will be all over the place, but that is okay.....Cry when or how much
you need too. We are here for you.
Take care
I've gone back to work this week. It has been a welcome distraction, but she is always on my mind. Every second of every minute of every hour.
