it has been 5 weeks tonight at 11:55 pm that I lost my best friend, lover, beloved husband to a horrible disease that robbed us of our future together. I truly don’t know how to go on without him. Lonely does not even begin to describe the hole in my soul that I feel without him. I just want to crawl in a hole, close my eyes and never wake up. I don’t see the purpose of living life any longer. I can not see a future without him that is not filled with pain and being alone. I don’t want to go on.

I'm right there with you in seeing a dim future, but what choice do we have? Dump the pain on remaining family and friends by cutting things short, or suffering through the grieving process. I know all to well the waves of grief that steal your breath, and the pain that robs you of all hope but have been assured by others that it becomes more bearable with time.

I know others say it will get better in time. I just can’t see it. I talk to him every night before I go to sleep or atleast try to go to sleep but every morning around 5:30 I wake up having an extreme panic attack and the dread of knowing that I have to face another lonely day without him. I have tried to go back to work atleast a few hours a day to help those days pass more quickly or atleast distract me but I only work 4 days a week so the weekends are beyond tough. I am extremely grateful for my family and friends who are willing to let me just come and hang out with them but I’m still so lonely even in a room full of people.

My Deepest Sympathy. Try to be patient with yourself. Take the best care of yourself that you can. If there is a bereavement group in your area, it may help to join. Try to face it one day at a time. It will take time . Keep coming here to this site. You will meet friends who care,. It helps that you have a good family and friends who are there for you. It won't always be like this. In time you will start to feel better though you may not think so now. May you gain strength and May Peace be with you.

It has been 3 months since I lost my husband. Everything you are feeling is normal. I can relate to the panic attacks because I am doing the same thing. Come to this group and share all of it! We are all here for you. It is important that we look to the ones in the group that are farther along the path than we are. I am so sorry you have to go thru this devastating pain but we all understand it. Take it minute by minute......

Thank you everyone for your reply’s and words of encouragement. It is helpful to know that all of you have walked in my shoes. And know the pain I am feeling but can’t really describe to others who have not lost their spouse. The feelings of loneliness seem to overcome me and I’m glad I found this group so that I can speak freely about them. Again thank you all.

If I may add one small comment. I used to go to the cemetery everyday. There was a ladies Gym close by. I went in and joined up. I found when I was exercising , I wasn't crying. Any kind of exercise can help, even if it is walking. if the weather where you are doesn't permit walking , you could go to a mall or walk up and down the aisles in a store. Hugs, Dolores
