Let me just say that I am here for you and I understand your feelings. Sharon
As hard as it is to talk about it out loud, I had to do this twice a week with the therapist. I completely broke down and fell apart every time, but she made me do this to help my brain put the missing pieces together. (I couldn't remember most of the night it happened and the flashbacks are your brains way of trying to make sense of it). After a few months of doing this, I still cried talking about that night, but the flashbacks stopped. I was able to control it and push the horror of that night aside with a happy memory.
If you don't have a therapist, family or close friend you are comfortable doing this with, she also had me writing everything down in a journal. I wrote as though I was talking to Wayne. This helped because he was the one person I was comfortable talking to. So describing that night to him even in writing, felt like I could still talk to him about it.
For a while he came to me in my dreams and i could actually talk about it.
I hope some of this is helpful to some of you. :-)
