While I am in no way glad that I had a REASON to look for this site, I am thankful I found it.
So many of the topics and posts I have been reading seem to mirror my own emotions, thoughts, and feelings. I had been worried that the people around me were right, and that I was not dealing with this "appropriately". but, these people are NOT in the position I am in, so it helps to see that people who ARE in this terrible, gut wrenching place are having the same troubles. I am so sorry for all of you that are facing them... I do not want to come across like I am glad that any of us are facing this. It is just a relief to know that I am not a freak. While I have lost my heart and soul, I have not lost my mind.

I think everyone here feels the same. And you absolutely do not come across like you are glad others are facing this.

I love the line "While I have lost my heart and soul, I have not lost my mind". Perfect.

Peace be with you friend. At almost 1 month the intensity of emotions is overwhelming sometimes. You are not a freak you are just unique. I was talking with a friend yesterday and realized not only can someone who has not lost a spouse fully understand the emotional toll but everyone who has lost a spouse is different as well. God made our relationships so unique only you and your spouse could fully understand the bond. When I try to explain to someone what I am feeling I feel like I should be committed! You have absolutely NOT lost your mind! A grief workshop that I attended for 6 weeks stressed that fact. People who have not endured the loss of a spouse can understand, nor should they try to tell you how to handle emotions. All loss be it parent, sibling, or child, is different from any of the others. A site like this that is set up for widows/widowers is perfect because everyone here has undergone the loss of a spouse. Come here often......it really helps! Hugs from AZ.

I sometimes feel like I've lost everything, including my mind. Until I was faced with having to repair and sell our vacation home; until I had to do taxes for the first time, by myself. When I had to make some horrific decisions; repair the car; deal with insurance agents; grocery shopping [Morey loved to do the shopping and I loved him for doing it.]

There's so much that we all do as a "couple", I've NEVER been alone, with just me. I'm a newby at this.

In the beginning I didn't trust my own decisions [not at first], now, two years later......I'm becoming a pro at shopping [not wasting as much as I did in the beginning] and, I'm not feeling so anxious about going out alone and talking to myself in public.

We're learning together......I'm grateful for all of you and in what you've help to teach me.

Absolutely you have not lost your mind, it is a broken heart we are all dealing with day in and day out. After 14 months, have settled somewhat into a routine. Don't like it one bit, miss my husband terribly.
