Today was a special meeting as we mark the end of this year. We talked about challenges during this holiday. One of the younger member's son was murdered on this day one year ago and she is very special to us. When she came, she was so broken and we embraced her. sent her cards, prayed for her. It helped all of us to focus on someone else. Her smile today lit up the room. She is doing much better and has reconnected with her grandchildren, who favored her son so much, she couldn't be around them. I had my camera with me and I asked, would it be appropriate to take a group picture. She was okay with it. We also prayed and sang Christmas songs. There were many stories shared as our facilitator asked two questions: 1.What gift do you want to receive in 2015? 2. What you are grateful for? My gift is PEACE and giving more of myself to others. So I ask you, WHAT GIFT DO YOU WANT TO RECEIVE IN 2015? and even in the midst of your adversity, WHAT ARE YOU GRATEFUL FOR?
May you have all you and I need and desire as we entered into a New Year. God bless and sustained all of us. I am confident that He will.

For me to stop trying to take control of my life and REST IN THE LORD. It is easier said than done.
Life is so much easier and peaceful when I give All my burdens to The Lord. Then I have the freedom of a free spirit for The Lord, so everybody around me benefits.
I know I haven't really pinpointed anything, but when I grow spiritually,
Everything in every way, makes life fir ALL better.
Does that make sense to you?

What a great day you all had!! It so good to hear that the Mother who lost her son in a horrible way is doing much better. My answer to question # 1 is the same for me as it is Sandra. I am starting to trust in God to guide me and I find some hope, peace and contentment in my life. #2 I am grateful to have spent 30 years with a wonderful, caring and loving man, Art. He blessed me with 2 stepdaughters, son-in-laws and 2 grandchildren who have been there for me from the beginning of Art's illness. The girls lost their Mom in 1986 and were only 18 and 19. I had lost my father and knew the grieving journey they would be on. Art and I never had any children together and there was a reason. I became the girls Mom. Art made them promise that they would take care of me after he was gone and that is exactly what they are doing. Yes, he blessed me with a wonderful family. Off to Church!! Something new for me!!! Hugs and I hope we get through the holidays without to much sorrow. Sue

I can't imagine the murder of a son. It had to be twice as awful around Christmas. If she can smile again, that should give a lot of us some hope. #1. I would like some healing in 2015 but I like your idea of giving more to others. St. Francis said something about In giving of ourselves we receive. #2. I'm grateful for all the prayers, kindness and support beyond what ever could've been imagined.

That is amazing - I am glad you all had such a good meeting.

For 2015 - I would like the courage to do what I think is best for me and to release my fears once and for all.

I am grateful for a new blended family, and that out of our losses we are finding a new way to happiness.

My gift for 2015 would be valuable to someone feeling the loss of their partner in life. Just to know I brought them a smile.
I'm very grateful for 40 years marriage to my high school sweetheart and the two children we raised followed by a new family with someone I love deeply and his family. My cup runneth over. Sharon

What a nice post. I'm glad you had a good meeting. I would like to give comfort to others in 2015. It helps me forget my pain. I'm grateful for the time I had with Susie. Every day with her was a blessing. Peace to you. Chris

What a really nice post...you really have me thinking..I guess the gift I want is continued hope...and trust in Gods plan. I have been thinking a lot about gratitude lately and honestly I have to say I am most grateful to God. There are so many wonderful people and so many amazing things that have happened in my life that when I try and even think of how or why these people and things came into my life it always comes to the man upstairs!!

The scripture that says "Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning" I have found to be true. I loved my husband very much and I miss him everyday, but he left me with so many memories throughout our 36 years together. Sometimes i can't sleep and I start praying and then thinking about situations that we shared and I find myself laughing and talking to him. I am so grateful that he gave his heart to Jesus, served dutifully in the church, and while others have come through Cancer, he didn't. I understand that he had finished his task on earth and the Lord took him home. No more chemo, no more radiation and loads of medication, and for that I have much to be thankful for.
