My darling husband and best friend, Rodney, died 6 months ago today. On February 26th he had a heart attack at work and never recovered. By the time I got to the hospital, he was already dead. Just like that, my world was turned upside down.
I have been battling a myriad of emotions--most or all of them familiar to each of you. I found this site a few weeks after Rodney died. In a tear-filled frenzy, I was searching online for help and hope. I remember that day all too well. I thought I was losing my mind and literally wanted a release from my pain, no matter how it came. I needed help from someone who knew what I was going through. I truly believe God (and great search terms) led me to this forum.
It's helped me to see that there are so many others who are missing their spouses/partners and that together we are trying to make sense of it while also holding out hope for a brighter day. I know my sweet Rodney wants that for me, and I am beginning to want that for myself.
Whenever I heard an old favorite song playing on the radio, I would tell him, " I used to love that song!" He'd never fail to say, "You still do." Well, that logic applies to him. I do love Rodney--and I always will. I can't believe I've survived 6 months without him. There hasn't been a day that I haven't cried, but lately I am starting to do more smiling than crying. I thank Rodney for loving me and being such a wonderful, supportive husband. It was (and is) an honor to be his wife.
I also am sincerely grateful to the organizers of this forum and to everyone on here who has ever posted, commented or sent me a hug. I don't comment or post often as I prefer to read. I have never left this site without reading something I needed to make it another day. Please keep posting folks. It helps more than you know.
Forever grateful,
Kelleigh

At least here, we know we are not insane or the worst griever who ever walked this earth !
Rodney did that for you and when your grief fog has lifted you will find it again, it NEVER leaves us.
I wish you easier, lighter and brighter days ahead.

The wisdom found here greatly aids in the ride on the grief roller coaster. I have had my ups and downs and found the support of individuals and they sharing their experiences invaluable. I am now having great days that have replaced the darkest times in my life I have ever passed through. The important focus is to be true to you, take care of you and eventually for you, (as I can now) remember the good of my 31 year relationship without the sorrow and pain. It takes time to reach that place in the process and I was and currently are aided greatly by the best friend I have meet and formed a great and special bond with. The universe does look out for us and good surrounds us if we open our eyes and see it. My life is back on track and yours will follow in due time. You are special to all of the DS family and we are here to support you and be your rock when necessary. Big Montana hug to you and have a peaceful weekend!
