I'm big on music. Dina and I had our groups/songs that we loved and had meaning to us. Those particular songs obviously mean even more to me now. Then there are songs that had no special meaning to us until December when I made a playlist to play for Dina (to give her a break from the Christmas music too!). This was very early on in her hospitalization. It was a mix of songs that had meaning to us as well as songs that became meaningful that day in December when I first thought I was going to lose her. Now there are songs that she hasn't even heard that have taken on meaning for me. Kind of funny how that works. Anyways, I just thought I would share some of these songs with everyone, some you'll know and some you won't.
Philip Philips - both Home, which took on meaning while Dina was in the hospital, and Gone Gone Gone, which took on a much different meaning once she passed. I'm sure most people know these songs by now.
Fix You by Coldplay - I've been a big fan of Coldplay from the first time I heard them in 2000. Dina liked them too. We saw them in concert once. This song stuck out to me as Dina was improving and briefly moved to rehab. I'm not really sure why but I envisioned it as the song playing when I took her home from rehab, which all along was the expectation. I could picture the day in my head as if it had already happened 100 times. Obviously that day never came to pass.
Green Spandex by Xavier Rudd - this song stuck with me from the first time I heard it after getting the album many years ago and took on much more meaning after we had Hannah in 2010. I always knew as a childhood cancer survivor Dina had a higher risk of something happening, especially given the side effects that started arising as she got older, which is why I think this song hit me the way it did. I had this played at the end of Dina's funeral service, that's how much it means to me.
All I Want by Kodaline - I just happened upon this song this morning while driving to work. Wow. All I can do is suggest that those reading this find this song and listen to it. I would suggest Grooveshark because you can listen to the entire song for free.
Keep Me In Your Heart by Warren Zevon - he wrote this while he had cancer that he knew was going to be fatal. Beautiful song.

I played the song " Happy Trails to You Until We Meet Again" by Roy Rogers and Dale Evans at the end of Don's funeral service. He loved it and the song fit him to a T. He had told me not to play any sad songs at his funeral. So I honored his wishes.

The song Walk hand in hand with me was sung by a good friend of mine at both our wedding and my wifes funeral and it was appropriate in both places. Not a dry eye in the house on eithier occassion. A song that had given me tremendous comfort after my wife passed was" sissys song". I had never heard it before but did it speak to my heart. There are others but those 2 are special. Gerald

I don't listen to Mozart anymore, but it was useful to help me make it through that period without becoming depressed. Just find out what will work for you.
