I went back to work right after the funeral for 3 years now. I thought all along I was doing well. Two months ago, I was driving to work and didn't feel right in my head. I asked myself what would my husband do now if he was here. At that thought I pulled over on the side of the freeway. I must have blacked out for a few second. I didn't care if I died there at the time, I couldn't move, head was spinning. After the spinning stopped, I managed to get to work. Went to see the doctor next day, she thought it is vertigo. One month later, I had chest pain. Went through heart scan, EKG, treadmill tests, there was no blockage. Now they think grief & stress from work are catching up with me. Has anyone experienced post traumatic stress 3 year later?

I am also at the 3 year mark. Buried my husband three years ago yesterday. I suffer with depression and PTSD. This group is my main support. I am currently seeing a therapist and doing grief work. The PTSD can go on for years. I have also had acupuncture for the PTSD. I am still struggling. Due to the social isolation I have trouble making myself get out of the house and have a lot of anxiety. Perhaps by working so much, you have not really dealt with your grief and it is catching up with you. Take care of you first. I will pray that you find your way to better days. Hugs to you. pj1952

I woke up this morning and at first tears flowed, then weeping. I must have had a dream about my husband or maybe just grief pouring out. After 17 months, and attending a support group, I still feel such sadness of the loss of my husband. I told the counselor when I volunteer or am with friends, I put on the smile. She called all this the "mask." I do share with my closest girlfriends those inner feelings and they listen... But they also have their husbands at their side. This feeling of being alone persists. All a day at a time, but I sure wish the roller coaster ride would come to a hault.

Sounds like you had the classic symptoms of a full blown panic attack. ?? I've experienced anxiety and panic off and on for a life time, it can be debilitating and yes, in my case caused by differing forms of PTSD. Therapy over the years has helped tremendously . . I also have a back-up of an anti-anxiety med I can take if I feel one coming on. Check with your doc once again on this and if you can afford to see a therapist, I'd highly recommend it. Breathe, and know you are not alone . . . xo, D
