Which one did you go to, was it griefshare or a hospice one? Good luck, you will enjoy it an meet new friends too.

Good luck at your group, I went to three until I found the one I go to now, we meet on Wednesday mornings, I'm actually looking forward to going tomorrow. Let us know how yours goes.

Thank you all for your encouraging posts. The Support Group was through the Hospice that had taken care of Mike here at home. There were 8 women in total today inclusive of myself. A few had lost their husbands within days of my losing Mike. I was the only newbie today, so after telling them a bit about our (mine and Mike's) journey, everyone had a chance to tell the group how their week was, if there was anything in particular they were going through and wanted to discuss, etc. I was very positive and up beat, but as I told them, if they had seen me yesterday, they would have met a different person, (yesterday was a bad day for me). All in all, it was nice to meet others going through the same feelings. The group meets every two weeks, and I am planning to go to the next one on the 19th.

I am glad you had a good experience and met others in a similar timeline - that can really help.

It takes a lot of things to get through this, and I am all for trying different things to help. I couldn't find a group so wound up here! :)

I went to the hospice group that helped us through my husbands cancer and benefited a great deal from it. I hope yours is helpful to you the same way. They are a blessing in my experience. Sharon

I found a grief support group through a hspital. I am going today . Wish me luck..

I tried one at my church, but it wasn't right for me. They made everyone share whether they wanted to or not. I'm a very private person and will share when I want to, don't like being put on the spot. They zeroed in on me since my loss was the newest. It all made me feel worse, I went twice and felt I went backward both times. I want to move forward towards the light at the end of the tunnel. It was for all kinds of losses too and it just didn't fit my needs.

This group had 2 older members, married 65 and 70 years. And a counselor, she did ALL the talking. She made it feel like, ok, this is what you are going to do, do it...kinda forceful

She said its like eating a elephant, you can't eat it all at once or you'll choke. You have 4 forks, so you have to start with one fork before you can use the next fork???.... do not know what that means?....I know what she was trying to say.... but it made me wonder why anyone would try to eat an elephant....?

btw..... she said the "waiting" feeling she hears a lot, if you were a caregiver, you would do, then run and do something else. So what you are feeling, is that you are waiting for the next thing you had to do for that person. And because you are sitting, and not have to run to do it, you have the waiting feeling.....

It took 3 attempts before I found a support group that was a good fit for me. It was worth the effort. Hope yours is as beneficial.
