This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
I haven't been on here in a long time, but like to check in once in awhile to offer hope to anyone who needs it. My husband has been gone over 5 and 3/4 years, and as I read what some of you folks who are newer to this grief journey write, I am reminded of those early days when I was experiencing all those same thoughts and feelings.
I once again want to remind you that there is light at the end of the tunnel and it is NOT a freight train!
Today is the 25th anniversary of my marriage to my late husband and felt the need to at least acknowledge that fact, so here I am. I am reminded of all the happy years we had, and the many difficulties too. I am so glad to have had them all, but am on a new path in my life now, and it is good as well, and also has rough places, those are just a fact of life and must be dealt with.
God is good and I am happy and doing fine, and while I want ot acknowledge my 25th wedding anniversary, I am not going to get sad or morose.
But I want to say to all of you who are reading htis, life does get better. No it will never be the same, but it can and will be good again, if you let it! God bless you all.

It's funny cuzz all we do is read, and each post takes on the tone and inflection we give it, but I have to say everything you've written, I read your journal entries today , radiates a positive spirit. You do inspire hope.
And after I read your entries I had the thought that this is a bit like high school, and you were in the class a few years ahead, and unfortunately there will be a continual influx of new 'students'. I look forward to seeing this class of 2013 graduate and see what our future holds.
It's so generous of all the alumni here to drop in and cheer us on, light the dark path, so to speak. Sorry for the rambling and weird metaphors. I am operating on little sleep today which makes me kinda punchy. But again, thanks a lot.
