My husband died April 21st, at 11:25 Tuesday. I found this site shortly after Don was diagnosed with lung cancer, CLL, and all the many things that go with these diseases. 3 years and 4 months we fought with all our might to keep him with me... Last night my love was surrounded by family and I was staring into his eyes as he took his last breath. He was home and comfortable. There's so much to say, but you know that already... I have learned allot over the years by lurking and crying with most of you, and I knew I'd be a member when Don went to heaven, but you can never really be prepared. I'm glad however that there is a place like this to talk the truth of life and death freely. Thank you for being here. Kim

Welcome and know you are never alone. I'm a old newbie as well. Found hee site in 2007, used it a bit until my wife's death when I lost it. Now, 2.5 years after her passing, I have just discovered the site once more. It feels like coming home.

HAVING A PLACE LIKE THIS TO COME TO IS IMPORTANT TO ME. MY DAUGHTER IS VERY UNDERSTANDING ABOUT MY GRIEF, SHE DID GO THROGH IT WITH ME WHEN HER OLDER SISTER DIED BUT I KNOW I CAN'T "BURDEN" MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS WITH MY NEED TO VENT OR WHINE OR CRY.
TI KNOW MANY CAN ALSO GIVE EACH OTHER TIPS FOR HANDLING THINGS THAT JUST OVERWHELM US.
I'M SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSE, EVEN KNOWING IT WAS COMING DOES NOT SOFTEN THE BLOW WHEN IT HAPPENS

I'm so sorry for your loss. tomorrow will be 5 weeks for me, and you're right - you are never prepared for the day it happens. My husband passed away March 19 from complications of end stage liver disease, only 2 months after being diagnosed. Although he had been ill for several weeks, we really had no idea how ill he was until the night I had to call an ambulance.
I have found this site very helpful, and the members very supportive.

wish I ddin't have to say welcome, but you are right you are not alone. I find this site the 1st thing I check in the morning and the last to bed. Helps me not feel so alone

Kim . . . words cannot express my deepest sympathy for you and your family. I also was with J when he passed (peacefully). It all seemed so surreal . . and yet it was peaceful. It's the emotional fallout that comes later . . . a lot of it from being a caretaker for so long, then of course the reality that he's gone and you are now flying solo.

We've been there . . we do understand and will be walking with you on this journey. Stay with us and we'll stay with you. You are not alone.

I am sorry you are now officially a member of the group no one wants to belong to, and I do remember you - it's been a long hard battle for you. Whether the passing is long or unexpected, it hurts. I am glad you knew you could come here. It sounds strange to say 'welcome back' or 'welcome' at all, but just want you to know we are here for you.

I am sorry for your loss Kim. Having your husband home, comfortable and passing with love and peace by his side must be a comfort to you. No, you are never prepared and welcome to DS. I will be thinking of you in the days and weeks ahead. Thank you for sharing.

Welcome kim....I am so sorry you find yourself here and for your deep loss.
I lost my husband to lung cancer too, he fought for 18 months and our sons and myself were with him when he passed......like Dayna said it is so surreal.

I am so sorry for your loss! We are here for you. I know that DS has been a blessing for me. I would not have gotten through those dark and painful days at the beginning of my journey which started May 19th of last year. Art died from cancer also. Take it one minute at a time, one day at time and come here often. Sending hugs. Sue
