I am sorry for your loss. I am glad that your found DS. You will find comfort and support here. I have been a widow for 8 months. My husband had a rare disease and started having symptoms in 1999. The disease took it's toll on his organs and his heart failed in January 2011. We had been married for 25 years and had been high school sweethearts.

Learning to live alone has been a challenge for me. I am adjusting. By coming here, I learned that my feelings were normal and that I wasn't so alone. Welcome.....

I am very sorry for your loss. This group has helped me understand that we are not alone in our journey. My husband lost his battle with cancer only 5 months after his diagnosis. I am without him just a little over 7 months. I pray you can find some peace of heart. Post when ever you have a thought or question. My heart is with you as you travel this road. i am at 8 months and the pain of the initial loss is abating but the being alone seems to be worse. Maybe because I was so busy for the first several months. So if you can keep friends and family close it will help. Some days will be better than others so on the bad days I try to reach out to someone else who is having a problem and that helps me. Kathy in Oregon

Thanks Brenda. Sorry for your loss too. It is very hard being without George. We just about grew up together. We have two adult children and two grandchildren. We even worked together. We were so close and I feel like half of me is gone but I know I need to be strong for myself and my family and him. But it is hard.

I don't know what is like to loose someone from an illness. I lost my husband to a fatal heart attack only four months after we married. I do know you found a good place to find out how others are living through this tragedy of losing a loved one. Keep logging in and reading. Take time for yourself and grieve. God Bless you. I am so sorry for your loss. This is such a great place, I don't know how I would have made it this past 10 months without DS. I lost my husband to pancreatic cancer 5 months after he was diagnosed. It is a very difficult journey.

Welcome. You have found a wonderful resource for encouragement and understanding. I am at 9 months and DS has been a life saver for me. We were married for just short of 40 years. I'm sure you are still in somewhat of a fog. There are ups and downs, bad days and good days, tears and smiles from memories. Take it one day at a time and be kind to yourself. Welcome to Ds, and I am so very sorry for your loss. My husband and I were together for 6 years, and married officially shy of one. He was diagnosed with liver dease right ater we got engaged, and his battle lasted two years, We were on our way to having a transplant, when he had a heart attack, and we lost him four days later after he was on life support. his organs shut down ,and we had to shut off his machines.

You have found a wonderful place of people who truly get what you are feeling, and will understand any and all emotions you have. It is the hardest journey I have ever been on, but has been helped SO MUCH by these wonderful people here.

Welcome to DS!! I am sorry that you qualify now to be a member here but this is one of the very best places I have found to be. My husband died 6months &3 days ago of metastasized bladder cancer....even though his bladder & nearly every other part of his urinary system had been removed 4 years ago & he was pronounced "cancer free". I have never joined any sort of on-line or support group of any kind before. However, DS has help me so much in simply understanding that this horrible lonely nightmare is shared by many women and men who are all willing to jump right in and try their best to help you no matter how much they, themselves, may be hurting. So sorry for the loss of your husband. Like you my husband and I started dating when I was 15 years old and he passed away in November of last year just before my 57th birthday. You have come to a good place with so many supportive people who are experiencing the same feelings that you are. I am so lonely without him and still struggle many days. Many of us share the same things. Kallene and I were married young (18 & 20) and were married for over 41 yrs.
GOD blessed us with 3 children and 4 grand children and I would not have traded it for anything.
My first year was pure H-ll and did not think it would get better. I put my trust in GOD and he has brought much happiness back into my life.
Trust in him and things will get better.
