2 Healing Tattoos

Yesterday was 2 months my Manny has gone......
This weekend I went and got 2 tattoos - one on my wrist - angel wings and the Celtic sign for M and one on my back - a St Joseph lily (that was his fav flower) with Para Sempre (which means forever in Portuguese) the tattoo artist even mixed Mannys ashes into the ink so I have my Manny forever in my skin with his ashes inked in..... Most people think I am weird but it was a step I had to take for myself and although it was very emotional I do not regret my decision to have them done. I had them done to remind me he is always with me and that I need to be strong. Some days are easier than others to believe that but it was part of my trying to heal after all this does not take anything away just something I needed to do for me!!

No one will know the meaning unless I tell them which is also nice, makes it that much more personal..........

Atta girl. I'm proud of you that you did something so uniquely personal to honor your Manny. I have a few tats and they ALL have special meaning for me . . so I "get it", although others may not. That's okay too.

Beautiful sentiment. I had a memorial tattoo done as well, in the wing are my husband and dad's initials. I find a bit of peace knowing I will forever carry them with me.

My wife and I rode our bike to Daytona for the first time in 2008 and before we went we both got tattoos. We thought we needed them to look the biker part :) She got a large one on her back and was very beautiful. Roses and thorns with a Harley shield in the center. After she passed I went back to the same artist that did hers and had the exact one tattooed on my arm. The artist added a pink cancer ribbon and also copied her signature from an old picture she gave me a long time ago. It was inscribed simply "Love, Donna" in her handwriting. The artist copied it perfectly. I look at it everyday and remember....

I did my memorial tattoo a few months in also. I was able to have the artist come to my house so the tears flowed freely. I can't remember the pain from the session because my personal pain overrode the physical. You will find, in time, that you get to share your love story when people ask "what does that one mean?". As my friends in Australia say "Good on You!"

I haven't been brave enough to get a tattoo but I had my husbands ashes made into a glass bead for my bracelet. It means a lot to me and he's always there with me every day.

I had an angel outline with the cancer ribbon done on the inside of my left wrist with the DOB and DOD as well as his monogram . I had the tattoo done 1 month after he passed and I often got strength from looking at it. I have caught some people starring at it thinking that they are not obvious and a a few have asked about my tattoo and I simply reply "It is my guardian angel"

I finally got my memorial tatoo. I had it put on my right upper arm. The tatoo artist designed it and did it for free. He know my Tim and wanted to pay tribute to him also. It's a bit manly so I had him add some purple and yellow.
