Don't know What to Do

I woke up this morning to find an ice rink on my front steps and huge ice hanging from the roof, right over my head as I exit my door. I haven't a clue what to do. They're too high to reach and who knows when my association will get back to me. I don't know if they'll just melt and pose no danger or if I should be scared to death of going out my front door. That's the only way out as my sliding door does not have a lock.

Anyone here know what to do? I'm a new homeowner so this is a first for me. I want my apartment back.

If it were me, I would get some salt, or rock salt and pour it on the steps. If you have a long pole/broom or something try to knock the ice off the roof but protect yourself. If you think its really a danger call the fire dept, maybe they will help or advise you.

Definitely rock salt for those steps. The huge icicles should melt quickly as the sun comes out. Mine melted on a sunny day with a 20 degree temp.

This winter was a ruff one. We got more snow days than we ever did in previous years.

I got the rock salt, so thanks for the advice. It didn't completely melt it, but it's not slippery either. My association said they would take care of the roof.
