Those memories still hit me when I least expect them to. I was at Home Depot and I found myself just wandering around the store and there they were...the Anderson Windows and French Doors. The memory of my husband and I picking out the windows and doors for our house years before (when he wasn't sick) and life was perfect came flooding back. Us standing on either side of the french doors talking about them and deciding together what we wanted. Yeah...LOVE the memories....

Truhal ~ your post made things come back to me too. It seems that everytime I go to the closet (we had one HUGE closet for both of us) I can see his clothes hanging there. Of course I've gotten rid of them, since he's been gone for almost 12 years ~ but I still see them. And I can see HIM dressing in the morning, getting ready for work.

Oh the memories. And how I miss him. There will never be another like him.

I know what you mean about those small, but sharp, memories. My husband would call me every day at work around 10am just to say hi. Every week day at 10am I wait for the phone to ring; and then realize it 's not going to, and I'll never get another call from him.

My husband would also call me everyday after lunch and as he drove home from work. Every one in my office always knew what time it was becasue my phone would ring, I too miss those phone calls,

Tru - hanging the toilet paper roll. I remember this distinctly - very soon after he died, I defiantly hung it the opposite way (thinking, this is my life, damnit, I'm gonna do it MY way). That lasted a good 2 days, before I realized he was right. Lol. That was just one of many -

Every year on my birthday he would wake me up by singing happy b day and would say he was cooking me dinner what did I want. He was an awesome cook!!! so I'd say what ever he wanted. Each year he would make the same thing. bbq ribs, baked potatoes, & asparagus. He would always flash a smile when I would get to the table that smile would always melt my heart. You see while I was pregnant with our last son I couldnt keep anything down so one day he said that baby just wants my special dinner and he made it even though it was not my birthday and I'll be damn if I didn't eat it all and it stayed. He beamed with a huge smile and was so proud of himself. On the 3rd of this year I turned 43 this memory came to me and all I could picture was the beautiful smile and although Rob is not here to flash it, once again it melted my heart and brought on a smile of my own. I so love this man with all my heart.

I like to play tricks sometimes on my Robert. He was always such an excellent Jeopardy player. One day when I was home during the day, I noticed that Jeopardy was on at 3pm and then came on again at 7pm I wrote the answers down from 3pm and the same show repeated at 7pm. He was waiting it in the kitchen at 7pm and before he could blurt out the answer, I would blurt it out. By the 6th answer he turned around and smiled and figured out something was going on. I confessed and we all had a good laugh about it
(our sons included). That was a great memory for me!!!

You're amazing Marsha - when I saw this post I immediately thought of the toilet roll and I could have written exactly the same as you !!!

I too didthe toiler paper thing.....changed it whatever way I wanted but remember how he wanted hung a certain way..

I now do not even remember which way it was though......ha ha Roger
