WIDOWS AND WIDOWERS OF FAITH Community Group
A place where people of faith may freely discuss issues of grief from a faith based perspective.
I am in my 6th year and now go through each day living it to the best of my ability. I can embrace beauty and joy around me and dont suffer from the debilitating effects of grief I once did. Recently I visited my home city where my wife was laid to rest. I chose to visit the grave and allowed myself during that visit for the pain and grief to resurface. Is there a wound next to my heart. Yes. Does it control me the way it once did. No. Many worry about forgetting them and I dont think that is possible because they are part of who we are now. Gratitude for what I had replaces sorry. I also find it humbling God gave me such a tremendous gift. I will repeat here what I heard many times on the grief journey. You dont get over it but learn to live with it and yes a amazing life is still possible if you open your heart to it. That is what both God and our spouses want us to do. God bless.
