WIDOWS AND WIDOWERS OF FAITH Community Group
A place where people of faith may freely discuss issues of grief from a faith based perspective.
Today is five years since my husband died of cancer. I've come to my grief journey where I am not crying all the time and I am not consumed by the entire cancer process. The PTSD is not as intese. Although the last month I have had grief waves because Christmas is a hard time. I am grateful that I was married to a wonderful man, he treated me with the utmost respect and he loved me. I have noticed that these days a good relationship is rare, people don't know how to give themselves and fall in love. I miss the life I had, I loved being married with children. I felt safe and secure. I struggle some days because the personalities at work are not supportive and kind. Although, I am grateful that I have family and friends who support me. I've learned to become my own best friend and love myself. I struggle as I am finding my own purpose in life as I figure out what God's plan for me is in this new year. I have many blessings and I am fortunate.

Today I feel grateful. Grateful for my dog Blue (Blue Jean Baby Queen, Prettiest girl I've ever seen). Grateful I'm still kickin'. Grateful I'm finally taking responsibility for my health. Grateful I own my home. Grateful for good friends and neighbors who watch over me. Grateful to God for His everlasting love and patience with me. Grateful I survived the 10 years since my wife of 30 years...

"Grief never ends. But it changes.
It's a passage not a place to stay.
Grief is not a sign of weakness nor a lack of faith
It's the price of love."

I am at six years (will be seven in March) and still struggle with why I am still here. Unfortunately, I have also lost three siblings and two in-laws, and an aunt since my husband's passing that has added to my grief journey. At times, I feel so alone and try to make sense as to why God has allowed me to suffer through so much loss in such a short period of time. It is difficult. Even so, I am grateful that I have two children and four grandchildren. I am also fortunate that I did not retire prior to my husband's passing; work gives my life structure, and I have some good co-workers who are supportive and kind to me. I am convinced
that I must be here for some purpose - just trying to find and recognize it.

I'm so sorry you have gone through this unacceptable behaviour from co- workers.
I'm glad you have the strength and peace you need to keep moving forward in
spite of all the trials you have faced.
You are an amazing woman, I pray for Our God to keep blessing you and your family.
Keeping you in my thoughts .......Sandra
