Working at a male closed custdy prison. I am female and my co worker on the floor was male. I was standiing in the rotunda looking into the day rooms watching two inmates having words. My co worker was sitting in the office with his feet up on the desk.
We had a new officer in the control booth. I pounded on the control booth officers window to have him pop the door to the living unit day room..there was a fight between the two inmates having words earlier. about 60 inmates in the living unit day room chanting them to fight..the booth officer didnt know to have them all return to their cells.
I thought my co worker was right behind me to seperate thee fight. I grabed one inmate he had a broken nose and whipped blood up my shirt and on my face...still my co worker sat watching from the office with his feet on the desk.. I pulled the inmate with the broken nose into the hallway out of the living unit.
a sgt and another officer met me in the hall way...my co worker finnaly got up and went to the pod and cuffed the other offeender involved in the fight. I tried to wash the blood off of me...the sgt took the offender with the broken nose to medical.
Another sgt took me around the facility coverd in blood trying to parade me around..All I wanted was to clean up and gett a new uniform on...all i was thinking was aids or hep c.
The co worker who left me in a room of 60 inmates in a fight was later chared with delivering drugs to inmates with the help of the inmates wives. He went to prison. I was told later that the fight i broke up was a rival to the guy he was dealinng drugs to
It just shatered me i cant even trust some of thee people you work with that are suposed to be there to help protect the staff and the inmates.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...

Well that staff member is in Prison..He no longer can work law enforcment hes now a felon.... I hate to say this there are about 12% of staff that are currupt..The rest are realy great people...The hard part is knowing who to trust and we try to look out for each other.
I reported to intell that on staff poured another inmates urin into a cup so another inmate would pass his drug test. I told Intel I wouldnt put anything in writing...Im afraid of the retaliation Nothing happened to this staff member my word against his..... That staff member eneded up dead of a drug overdose..
Just a weird environment to be in. I started working in close custody male prison (guys doing life) when I was 20 so I grew up in prison. I have so many experriences riots, rapes, suicides, currupt staff, fights, stabbings, shootings, escapes etc it all seems to run together if that makes any since...alll a part of my PTSD.
Wish it was easy to report issues...I knew the Intell Sgt pretty well. Ied just give him a heads up and let him investigate it to keep myself out of trouble.
