Is he or she a sociopath or psychopath? Think we're only talking about serial killers here? Psychopaths, sociopaths and even narcissists come in every walk of life, every career level, and every socio-economic category.
I’m married to a Covert Narcissist. He recently had a birthday. His mother said she would take our family out to dinner. This didn’t happen because she was wrapped up in being a social butterfly that whole weekend. She didn’t even call him once. During the weekend we were flooded with pictures of her out drink with people my husband’s age. Then the final insult to him was a post of his mom out with his brother’s girlfriend celebrating her birthday. I felt so bad for him. Our family that we formed, his sons and I, took him out a couple times and tried to make his Birthday really special.
I felt horrible for him that his mom didn’t join in with us or even call. He just told me she’s going to buy us some items we need to make up for it because he told her he felt all alone on his birthday.
Hearing this was heartbreaking. We, his family, took him out and celebrated his birthday, but he felt all alone. My heart hurts that we were not nearly enough. There is a huge back story of him putting her first with our money, love, and affection.
I’m just a little shook up to hear him say he felt all alone that weekend .

Realizing I gave over 25 years to a man that only sees the pain he has caused me when it’s through what his kids would have thought makes me realize how little he thinks of me.
Don’t know if this makes any since. Don’t know why I would expect anything from a man who was passively watching me almost die three times. Started thinking I bet he really gets off on sleeping with someone that he was willing to let die three times not to mention all my money he took, retirement, 90k, inheritance, and so on. I’m an idiot.
I started getting help for myself and good people started pointing out I had been treated wrong. I found this group and printed out a list of questions about are you a psychopath. I told him I wanted to talk about the questions with him. On the paper we answered yes to 19 of the 20 questions. I told him we should take it to his therapist. His therapist commented on how good the questions were. We discussed the answers with examples of each for three sessions I think. After we were finished I asked the therapist if he was a psychopath since he answered yes to 19 out of 20 questions. He told me he was a covert narcissist. He never answered my question about being a psychopath.
After realizing I wasn’t crazy for recognizing he had treated me poorly I filed for separation. For eight months he tried to get back with me even confessing to some of the things he did wrong and affairs he had.
I was doing well in the separation. I was in individual and group therapy. Then I found out I had Multiple Sclerosis. I was scared. All of my family was dead except one estranged sister. I went back to him. Now it is five years later.
