How do psychopaths maintain long term relationship

I read on here that people have been married long term with psychopaths. In my personal experience I have never dated one that could stay put for very long or tolerate stability.

My H has been married three times, his last marriage was for 15 years - he wasn't faithful at all, in fact had an 8 year relationship with her best friend. He used to go on holidays with his 'wife' and son. His son was what kept him there so he says, as he had three other children he 'lost' when she kicked him out for being unfaithful. ( good for her!)

When we met he used to talk about this women who he was seeing who duped him into giving her thousands of punds. She was married and he found her on dating sites seeing other men. He was devastated so he said and this was why he kept mentioning her! I know more about her than I do him!!! He comes across as very innocent and un street-wise. He gives money away to all sorts of peole to try and make himself needed or to look like a rich businessman which is something he isn't! He has huge debts.

Im confused about him, he seems like a victim because he's too gullible but then he is really nasty….

He is not a victim, sunny. Psychopaths portray themselves as victims. It's a slick, well-rehearsed act. They portray themselves as gullible, victims, empaths. They are anything but. The wolf protrays himsef as a sheep so that you will close to him, and then he can eat you.

My ex had a history of being with someone and then wasn't - then he went back with them, etc. Sadly, I found this out after we were dating. Also, he is an alcoholic - when I met him in front of friends' house, he stated that he had stopped drinking. I thought that was strange to announce when I was a complete stranger and that should be private. Well, he ended up drinking beer, wine and at least one Manhattan daily. He drank when he was awake. I realized that any woman who did anything like clean or cook was open for criticism. He would rather be in a bar talking to anyone for hours. It is a relief to know they are complaining about someone else and not us! We have the freedom to make new friends and maybe find true love.
