They are AMAZING. I used to use the 'best' shampoos and conditioners (I have very long, curly hair I like dye the hell out of, so it needs lots of upkeep) these ones aren't even a third of the price and they're amazing.
They have a body wash as well that smells so nice.
They also have a hair gel. It's not vegan friendly, but it's not tested on animals.
You're in the US right? So, I'm not sure if they exist there, but I always check on Leaping Bunny and there's plenty of American brands.

Or go to the PETA website, they should have animal friendly products there too. There's some debate about which website is more accurate. But between the two they can usually point you in the right direction.
Also, I've heard rumours of some people using the Leaping Bunny logo falsely. So, if it's not facing to the LEFT then don't buy it.

Soap is used in so many products, but what is not widely known is that all soap is made by a chemical process using fat or oil, and that US standards to not require the company to tell you WHERE the oil or fat came from. Largely, it is lard.
Soap is not difficult to make, nor is it that dangerous. A few minutes on utube will give you an idea.
many people forgo shampoo entirely and just use baking soda to wash their hair. There are chemicals in shampoo that are not that great for you (and have been linking to male pattern baldness)
the movement is generally called "no poo" (as in no, shampoo)
I wish you the best of luck!
You should know that you cannot do this every time. But this does not wash out your natural oils and your scalp will adapt over a week or two so that you are no longer producing large amounts of the oil. I wash my hair with just water for two days, then baking soda on the third.
Be careful, it adds volume and body. One of my pics in my photo's section shows my hair. Clean and not greasy looking.

but it is all messed up from wind and chopping wood.
So I'll try it and see what becomes of it :) Thanks for the advice
I've found a few vegan soaps/shampoos and conditioners out there that would be free of the animal fat problem. Some do use palm oil, which is considered bad because in order to harvest it organgutans are killed. But it's not the case for all palm oil harvesting, some are done sustainably, so it's a matter of doing research in that case.
I'm quite lazy and more than a bit of a princess when it comes to my hair, so I don't use baking soda. But it is good, and good for a number of things including as a body scrub, face scrub and for your teeth as a toothpaste!
If you find your hair drying out, you can also try olive oil. I have, in the past, put a teaspoon on my head and then washed it through. I also used to wash my face with olive oil, but it didn't react as well as some of the manufactured products so I gave up on it.
