My sister was diagnosed with vaginal cancer last December. She underwent radiation/chemo for 7 weeks and brachetherapy (sp?) (internal radiation inserted into her tumor). In June she had a PET scan and all signs said she was in remission. She began having awful pain and they recently did another PET scan and a biopsy only to find that the cancer is back. The doctors have said all they can do is chemo now. Of course chemo is no cure, so it can really only prolong her life. Has anyone undergone any alternative treatments and what has been your outcome? thank you and God bless.

My mom is dealing with the same exact thing right now. Doctors say weeks or months to live. I am also desperate to find clinical trials or alternative treatments but because this cancer is so rare I havent had much luck..

Hello I am dealing with same I had radiation/chemo and then the radiation implants the cancer was supposed to have gone into remission but I was still having pain the doctors were just saying that the pain was caused by scar tissue I received from the radiation implants and it would go away but for almost a year I had the pain and kept going back and forth to doctors I even changed doctors but then had to go back to my original doctor after new doctors could not find anything wrong and while I was with the other doctors they were also conducting biopsys but did not see anything when I went back to my original doctor he did a biopsy and he told me the cancer was back I had just had a biopsy done in July with other doctors and now in October the biopsy showed cancer I don't know hat to do I had chemo for six weeks cancer did not go away. I am in stage 4 the cancer is supposed to be on the pelvic bone of my vagina they want me to do a PET Scan to make sure it's still contained if so they want me to undergo aggressive surgery they say they have a orthopedic doctor who can go in and remove the bone the cancer is on and replace the bone with another I don't know I'm scared I have this awful smell coming from my vagina they did a procedure on me to divert my urine since the cancer had corroded my bladder when I urinated the urine would irritate my bladder so now the urine has been diverted into bags from my kidneys through my back I'm so tired of all of this and feel so alone I don't know whether to have surgey or not I have been in pain off and on for four years and I'm tired. They said at first the smell from my vagina was caused by a urinary track infection now they are saying its coming from tumor in vagina I don't know what to believe all I know is that I'm scared I have this odor I'm still in pain what do I do

Babs, it's been a year now. Are you still with us? I've just gotten the diagnosis of vaginal cancer mets, endometrial cancer primary, have had hysterectomy a few months ago, now lots of decisions ahead.

Physicians treat vaginal cancer with surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy. For pre-cancers of the vagina, treatments include laser surgery and topical treatments. But your doctor can tell you which treatments are available to you according your situation.
