Probly the first appointment will just be talking over you sypmtoms and stuff like that. they will probly get a urine sample and scan you bladder to see if you are retaining any urine. They probly will not actually do anything the first visit. they may want to get ultra sounds and cystocpopy and stuff later and then that will determine your course of treatment. My first visit to the urologist included a prostate check which was real shock to the system plus a bladder scan a flow test and a blood test. I had a follow up appointment 6 months late and went through the same tests and then a diagnosis was given. Nothing was mentioned about how I should deal with my lack of bladder control. I was refered to a continence nurse for this. Once I had my daignosis I was able to get fre pads on the NHS.

Hi yes much the after my first visit to the urologist. Had the unexpected prostate test too.
I was put on medication which did not work at all,so went that and went for second appointment where more tests were arranged that's coming up next Monday and will be given a urodynamic investigation test which I am not looking forward too.I have mainly urge incontinence and have no nighttime wetting apart from have to get up most nights 3/4 times.
I wear protection everyday when not at home or near a toilet.
I am also sceptical to the urologists idea's vof treatment but know more post test.

I was prescribed vesicare for my symptoms. It has limited effect and seems to do nothing to help my night time wetting. It does help a bit during the day.

Hi ST50 yes the drug they prescribed me.but it really was not good for me had dry throat and increased wetting too.

What level vesicare did they prescribe. I started at 5mg which did little or nothing but at 10 mg it worked but gave me a dry mouth and some problems emptying my bladder. So I now take the 10 mg ones every other day. This helps with daytime incontinence but does nothing for my bedwetting.

After some months waiting today was urodynamics test day.
All very uncomfortable but now we know a bit more about my problem,and the treatment options available.
I have a small bladder and this explains a lot of my earilier
Issues when I was younger.
With back problems and 2 major operations nerve damage all giving me an over active bladder.
So for the treatment options,: Botox with a 75% success rate,or a major operation to enlarge the bladder.or short a drug Betmiga,or stay as I am with protection and the inconvineance.

urologists exams usally are the most comfortable exam and it going to depend on how thought of a exam they going to do all likely they will a prostate exam maybe ultra sound the most uncomfortable is when they put the scope in your penis it's all important
