Hi, I'm new to this site. I have cerebral palsy, which is giving me challenges with my bladder. the doctor has told me I have a neurogenic bladder, (I go pee a lot and don't empty my bladder) and that self -catheterisation would help with incontinence... I'm really struggling to learn how to put the catheter in! I'm a female and so far, one nurse couldn't find my urethra at all to teach me, another couldn't teach me if I sit on a toilet, and insisted I lay on the bed and do it, but that causes spasms for my back which tightens all my muscles and it's not only painful to try then but, physically draining and exhausting... my urethra is not easily visable and all the prodding is making me have more spasms! Does anyone have any suggestions to make it easier to do? are their assistive products that can make this easier and sucessful ( the nurses don't seem to be very knowelegeable when it comes to teaching)? I'm so frustrated!! Can anyone offer any advice?
