i was in the hospital a few weeks ago and had to spent the night there.i had an issues with couple of nurse aides about me needing to wear diapers.they didn't believe that my incontinence was that sever.when i had several accidents,the RN nurse told me i should have been in diapers from the start of my stay there.she told me that she would talk to the aide about me needing diapers.then why do medical personal have a hard time taking care of patients who are incont.and that they are young adults from 20-50yrs old.if you are 60 plus yrs old i's okay to need/wear diapers.if you are a person 20-50 yrs old you shouldn't be in diapers, why is that???? jamie

For the last 10 years or more I have been in and out of the hospital. A longterm care facility & currently homecare nursing. I'm disabled and have needed help with cathing. Bowel program. Bathing dressing. And yes frequently diapers. My first experiance was being pregnant with My third daughter. Having MS and having just had a stroke. My body was in no condition for anymore UTIs etc. I had no control over My bowels either so diapers were used for the next 6 months. After that we went back and forth between cathing etc and all the other ways of dealing with complete incontinence. Diapers are often the best way to deal with it. The nurses are always very understanding of My issues and have really helped me accept this aspect of My life.

For Brandie1970, I see that you cath but prefer diapers over catheterization. Have you tried the "SpeediCath Compact"? This is new catheter that basically eliminates UTI because it is pre-lubbed and you never touch the catheter.
