Urinary Incontinence Support Group
Urinary incontinence is the involuntary excretion of urine from one's body. It is often temporary, and it almost always results from an underlying medical condition. Stress, functional, and urge incontinence are the most common forms. Share with other support group members and learn from their stories and experiences.

Hi all, just thought i would post an update as i haven't done this in quite some time.
Well, I had quite a rough time when i first found out that i would have to wear diapers for the rest of my life! it is a real life changer but after some adjustment and coming to terms with it i have now accepted that this is who i now am.
When you first start to wear diapers it is a really weird invasion of your self, your being. Not only are you having to wear diapers for the first time since your parents put you into diapers as a baby but there are so many diapers out there and it is difficult finding the right one for you and getting the absorbancy right.
When i had my first encounter with a diaper it was that new woven cloth back which would not stay up, i thought that i would not be able to cope with this for long. Then i tried sample packs from many different suppliers and found that the plastic backed diapers are far better for me, for one they stay in place, and two they are easier to maintain.
It has taken me an age to get it right but i have finally found the right diapers for my day, and night time use. During the day i use the lille classic fit and at night i use tender care No3 all through the night diaper, which is brilliant compared to the lille at night. difference being the tendre care is longer at the back and the pad is so much more absorbent. Also, i found that Abena do a bodystocking which fastens under the crotch which i can recomend as they hold the diaper in place and stop sagging, also they smooth my profile so my diaper is a lot less obvious to other people.
So if like me you are new to wearing diapers it is not the end of the world you just have to find what is right for you, don't despair you will find what is right for you and comfortable.

Since i posted the other day I have seen the continence nurse (at my request) and discussed the issues i have with her. I have now been prescribed the Molicare super plus large which are ok for daytime use but overnight i will be sticking with the Tendercare.
I get my all in one pads/nappies from the NHS. For many many years i was supplied with the plastic backed TENA Slip, then they lost out on the contract and I had EuronForm for about year before it went back to TENA and now, just recently, I receive the new 'breathable soft backed TENA Slip Maxi, which I use 24/7. I have found that they are extremely absorbent but can leak at the sides when sitting/driving and they tend to sag and drop down when wet. And they are bulkier than the old TENA Slip Maxi. The back needs to be longer and come up higher in my view. I don't want to wear plastic pants over them as that rather defeats the object of having a breathable nappy, which was so much more comfortable over our warm summer and autumn months. I have not heard of the Tendercare brand you mention. I will have to look them up. As you say, the main thing is to find what works best for you............ and then ask the NHS to supply!
Even harder is trying to get the nhs to listen to you!!
Even though they are not the users of these products they always think they know better.
I hav eventually got the nhs to supply but they keep trying to get me to use different pads. I usually say "no thanks i don't want to risk embarrasment in public, for the sake of an experiment" that usually shuts them up.
The other thing I sometimes say to them is "personalisation" and the nhs commitment to it.
